Threads That Get Off Topic

Recommended Posts

Hey BTown,

We've had issues with threads getting off topic, and we are wanting to help cut down on that. If we tell you to get back on topic, please listen. If you fail to listen, you may get a 24 hour ban. That may sound extreme, but we are tired of every topic turning into a Crean thread.

Just a warning, if you get off topic in the recruiting threads, we don't give much leeway. Ccg, Pap, and a few others work extremely hard on those, and we will not let it get clouded by posters bickering.

We don't want to be harsh, but as the best IU fan forum around, we are wanting it to stay that way. From now on, let's be respectful of the topics you are in, and pay attention!

Thanks :)

When a post gets past a few hundred replies, it is bound to get off topic. On that subject, with 700 posts, there are hundreds of good posts that go unread because they are buried in the middle. Can we limit or start new threads more often to keep the threads smaller?

I enjoy the people in the forum and prefer this site to others.

I thought their first 2 albums weren't bad...
but it was all downhill after that.

The music isn't so bad. But words can't describe how much I hate Eddie Vedder's voice. And a few others' from that era/genre. At the same time, that might be my favorite era musically.

To a certain extent, it's unavoidable that threads lose their way. Almost every topic one can think of, or post about, is linked or will invariably be linked, to another.

For instance, you could have a thread on Tom Crean-The Coach, Tom Crean's coaching prowess, Tom Crean's coaching philosophy, Tom Crean has the clap, The Rise and fall of Napoleon, Nero plays whilst Rome burns, Joani's trip to a High School game, Martha the Mop lady's tips for moist muffins, & 10 ways to have fun on campus during the offseason. Without a doubt, the posts would cross over, as almost everything is intertwined.

Having said, this, I know what you're saying, and we need to at least try to stay on topic. Just wanted to add my two cents worth.

Sure most CTC threads overlap, and we understand that, but there's no reason to bring coaching into recruiting threads. Thomas Bryant's thread should be about Thomas Bryant, not every other thing you listed.

Yup, you're right. I don't like it, but you're right.  :D

As a solutions oriented person. How about when we/I/see a comment in a recruiting thread that demands conversation as happens regularly, we just simply copy and paste said comment into a new thread titled Re:Thomas Bryant. Continue convo there for eternity or until the dreaded "off the board"post.

I love to laugh and joke as much as the next member but out of respect for your moderators and fellow members please heed JBs warning.

The consensus is that this Wild West vibe we are feeling here at BTB will die out once a head coaching decision is solidified.

Please be respectful to the forum etiquette!!!
