Total bull**** you don't need to stand behind the coach but you sure as hell should stand behind the players. And personally I think if Crean is gone after this year Yogi and Troy leave as well. So I'll take Crean for 1 more year.

Is it bad that making the NIT and getting a new coach (I've always been a supporter of Crean but can't handle it anymore) is what I want? I'd be okay with missing the tournament this year if it meant we could be better in the near future.

I have said this before, but I see him coming back no matter what happens this year for 1 more year. His buyout is 12 mil and then drops to 6-7 mil in July? They will not pay the 12 mil and they will not fire him that far into the off season. It would doom the next coach coming in.

 

I would say he needs to make an elite eight run minimum plus a Movement 2.0 recruiting class to keep his job after 2016. My guess is that he and Freddie will both be updating their resume's at the same time. 

 

Please no Movement 2.0, please!  Give me the "crap" 2010 class over the Movement 2.0.

It's so bad that UK, Purdue and Louisville fans legitimately feel bad for us.

Purdue doesn't feel bad for us, they're loving that contract and hoping he gets an extension.

We let the fear of players leaving force our hand once before.  The result was the Mike Davis experience.  Let's not go down that road again.

Interesting seeing how some of you have finally realized Crean isn't the coach we need at Indiana. Believe it or not I even gave him the benefit of the doubt during those first few years after the warning signs were evident from the true lack of the program getting better(see wins year 1-3). The complete meltdown on the best team in basketball during Cody's last year was my realization he couldn't coach any team to a title, and that's how we really judge coaches at Indiana. Last year showed his ability of taking a talented team to a dumpster fire and this year is more of the same. I like beating Maryland, but I love beating Purdue as most Hoosiers. I have given my scenarios for finding the best coach, yet Glass is hiptied to Crean so there won't be any progress there until he is gone also. The right coach won't be available until Glass is gone first. Just look to Mich as example 1. Sad but my bet now is Crean gets 1 more and both are gone this time next year.

I wouldnt want to solely because of Yogi. I don't want to see him fail or even think he's failed. Crean brings him down.

Eh? Sweet 16s every year, at minimum? There's very, very few programs in the country that are at that level and maybe only 1 or 2 that are doing it the right way.

Ha!  I think expecting a Sweet 16, at minimum, every year isn't bad as long as we realize upsets happen.  I would like a program that is in the Sweet 16 every 3/4 or 4/5 years with a run or two past the Sweet 16.  Of course, that is if the program is 'doing it the right way.'

IU fans rooting against the team doing well exemplifies 2014-15 IU. You will all remember the year fans openly rooted against a team and discounted anything it did do that it's opinion on the coach was validated.

Incidentally if you're rooting for IU to lose any games just go ahead and root for a different school

I think u have to understand the catch 22 in effect here. I never want us to lose. All of us feel this way. But our program's future is of utmost importance. I fully understand the concerns and thoughts going on, but very, very few Btown Banner fans are actively rooting for us to lose games.

Crean needs to give fans Hope! It's not happening. Nobody wants to be NCState, Marquette, Illinois, Texas, etc... Win big or reload. I get it, but my heart will never root against the students. Call it a Crean Conundrum and I'm right in the heart of it.
