The fans aren't going to the games?

So many kids trying to make a quick buck off selling Purdue tickets. Shame

I know some people that sold Michigan student tickets for north of $250 2 years ago. Prices aren't too bad for this game.

Eh, if they're student tickets at least you know that Purdue students can't sneak in with them. I'm all for the free market deciding who wants that seat the most. I see some GAs going for 100 bucks a piece. At least I know the person buying them is going to appreciate the game 100 dollars worth.

A few quick and random observations:

- The tickets are selling just fine. The students just aren't using them. It's still disheartening, but if the students that aren't going would sell or give their tickets away that would at least put people in the seats.

- If you're a student and your excuse is that you don't want to stand for 4hrs then you're an absolute embarrassment. The top student sections are standing and making noise the ENTIRE GAME. Give your ticket to someone who wants to watch the game and have an impact.

-Getting students to the game is only half the battle. They need to be engaged and understand that their involvement can be the difference maker.

- When I was a student (this century) we didn't have an "official" student section organization. When the Crimson Guard was formed I think most alumni and caring students were stoked. Granted I'm not in Bloomington anymore, but what the hell do they actually do? Their social media presence is a joke. I know they have little sign parties or whatever and distribute hot chocolate to students that wait out the long lines, but what, if anything, do they do to engage student fans? My little brother went to the dark side and attended Purdue and graduated just a few years ago. He was a student ticket holder for four years and I went to several games with him. Now, I absolutely despise PU fans, but I can honestly say that other than their black gloves gimmick and  their IU sucks chant they put our student section to absolute shame. We have the numbers (?), but thats it. I tend to believe that our fans as a whole are far more knoweledgeable of the game, but their student section fully comprehends their role and significance. Regardless of the product they put on the floor the Paint Crew get the students involved. --Bottom line: it just ticks me off to see our student section "leaders" piss away this opportunity.

-Fortunately, our players still care about our home court and going into Thursday we're undefeated at AH in conference play.

-Where is the IDS in all of this? Have they called out our students?

I genuinely hope that our fans wake up before Thursday because our boys could really use their support and encouragent during this final stretch going into the tourney.

I graduated in 2012, but the current members of my frat have bitched and moaned about the ticket lottery system being the sole reason they didnt get season tickets. The randomness of the good seats for the "good games" and the fact that season tickets doesnt mean you get tickets to every game, turned them off.

Man, I miss my high school days... I went to every home game section C row 11. those were the good ole days :c

No, it's the student seats, which are sold (actually oversold), but they aren't showing up. It's a nationwide problem. Duke has even started selling Cameron Crazy seats to the general public. But sure, let's blame Crean. It appears Alabama fans hate Nick Saban as well!

angry this one. It may be a small portion of the students and general admission, but to say that some are not going due to Crean is a reality whether you want to admit it or not. The weather, buses, technology, prices, performance, competition etc are all likely factors too.

Curious, has anyone(or bigger entity) inquired to the athletic dept or to Campus Bus/Bloomington Transit about gameday specific travel to Assembly Hall or football gamedays?

P.S. Thanks to all in this thread that realize this problem isn't an in-state vs out-state issue. Posers are posers regardless of location, social class, etc. This issue as the post above me just mentioned is multi-faceted and is an issue for college and pro sports. Unfortunately as long as the paid attendance at Assembly Hall is 17,472, things won't change; in spite of the swaths of empty seats minutes before tip-off.

So Duke fans hate Coach K? Using your logic, yes. They can't fill their student section either, which is tiny.

Where are you getting your info? There was a problem in 2012 but likely not having that issue the past couple of seasons.

I tweeted at the campus bus service one time after a game when I was waiting around for about 35 minutes. They said their budget does not allow for them to provide extra buses on game nights.

The athletic dept. should provide funds to the campus bus and Bloomington transit to have a few extra runs during high volume times(football, basketball mainly). With all the BTN $ and the facility projects under way, sending a few bucks towards the transit companies to get paying customers/students to and from the games should be a priority and not a big budgetary issue.

YES! We can stick our heads in the sand and discuss a thousand different reasons why or cut the crap and cut to the chase. 90% of it is Crean. I personally know a couple of big time alums who quit supporting last year and won't come back til he is gone. IU filled the place when we were winning 10 games a year but fans thought we were headed in the right direction. If this isnt a wake up call for some then I don't know what will be.

80% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
