Indiana won't be Indiana until it wants to be Indiana

Curious question?

Sean Miller and Crean seemed like equal candidates at the time, right??

Indiana and Arizona are near equal basketball destnaions, right??

Why is Miller doing so much better at Arizona than Crean at IU?

If we had Arizona recruiting and results, I'd be happy as a pig in shit!

Live in the Xavier area and I wanted Miller, bad. Thought Crean might be Izzo 2.0 at the time, though. LOL

I said it a few years ago if I had the choice as a coach to be in the east/midwest or west I would be out west.  You could pretty much get who you want and possibly pick a few out of the midwest with destination as a selling point.

I don't disagree at all.

This is Crean's fourth team. Three of those we are in the top 25, two being top 10-15, and one where we were the best team. I can live with that.

Rankings make you walk a little taller but other than that they don't mean squat!

We were never the best team...or we would have won an NC...we didn't!

I'll give Crean the first two years but by the third it was his team. Not really judging him by that third year but to some degree he has to own it.

Year four? We weren't even ranked going into the season and had just gotten into the top 15 at the end of the year. Personally, it's been my most enjoyable season since Crean got to Indiana.

Year five? The best team you say? Ranked number one, huh? We didn't win the Big Ten tournament. Went out in the sweet sixteen. Kinda backed into a regular season championship as we totally looked stupid cutting down nets after OSU kicked our ass...in Bloomington!

Year six? Couple of Burger Boys, several other highly touted recruits...and we don't make the tournament...any...tournament!

This year? Playing in a down year for the B1G? If we get past the first round of the tournament I'll be surprised...either tournament! B1G or NCAA.

I understand and appreciate you trying to be positive and I'm trying to be that way myself but DAMN! Give me SOMETHING to hang on to!

So many players in California?

Have you forgotten about all of the talent that resides in the state of Indiana?

If we only recruited Indiana, we wouldn't be anywhere close to a top 5 program. It comes in cycles.

I can't believe people complain about recruiting Indiana. The ONLY one we didn't get was Harris. Crean came in and got Hulls, got Zeller, Yogi, Blackmon. Remember we all complained about who was missed during the 2000s? Crean has gotten those players to IU!

Your argument was that Sean Miller is in a great position in Arizona due to his proximity to California and being in a down conference.

Meanwhile, we are in a hotbed of talent and in a down year for our conference.

Why don't we have the same results?

Didn't mean AP rankings. Meant we were in the group of the best 15 or so teams or this year we are in the best 20-25 or so teams.

IU has shown signs of becoming a consistent winner again. Let's hold off on title talk. We have been a joke for years. Back to back Sweet 16's is nothing to scoff at. But some Indiana fans think they're a little too good for that...

I couldn't give a care about Sean Miller or Arizona. He isn't in the Big Ten. He gets his guys delivered to him. There is little evaluation.

Why don't we have the same results? I don't know what to tell you. It's pretty obvious that NBA defections put IU into a tough spot. They were prepared but took a hit with noah going after one and Luke leaving. Any way you cut it, it's hard to find a replacement that late. Kids are signed before Luke left. The spring didn't bring about a Zeller. Maybe IU should've paid for a big, I don't know anymore... I think some here would prefer that to a team developing over a couple years.

Backed into a championship?! They backed into a possible tie and EARNED that championship at Michigan.

A tie? Yeah, we backed into what we got!

Beat OSU at home and you win it. A tie? I'm sick and tired of settling.

Yeah, in my opinion we didn't win it. And I forgot to mention. Going out in the sweet sixteen, not winning the B1G tournament, getting our ass kicked on senior night by a team that we'd just beaten on the roada few weeks earlier? We did all that with two of the top four picks in the NBA lottery that year and another kid that was an MCDAA.
