Indiana won't be Indiana until it wants to be Indiana

I understood your post. I'm asking what our actual 2nd half record is and how much worse is it than our actual record.

I think even that analysis isn't quite complete and the differential between between first and second half is more informative. MSU game is a great example. We got smoked in first half but came out strong and only lost by 1 in second half. That matters to me and I think it matters when analyzing if we're a worse second half team.

A lot of teams/coaches take their foot off the throttle when they get a big lead. Most coaches aren't out to embarrass because they know someday the shoe will be on the other foot. Especially MSU

Totally agree which is why I'm saying a team winning or losing the second half is not a telling statistic. Needs further digging into the situation

yes, looked at how we have performed in the first half and second halves of games over the past three years, which showed that we were pretty good in the first half as a whole and pretty bad in the second half as a whole.

Where I was unclear is in regards to IU losing every game that we have trailed at the half. That stat was just for this season not the full three years. Sorry

Thanks for clearing that up for me!

more analysis could be done but blowouts in our favor were not the cause of this trend.

Is he schoosier on this board? I remember he & WaffleHeadFred use to have some awesome discussions on the original Hoosier Sports Nation board.

not sure if this is what you meant but GoColts was never on the Hoosier sports nation board. He is a scout guy

You mean when Dakich was repeatedly saying Crean is doing, and I quote, "a masterful job this season."

Not defending him, but Dakich was only attacking Crean's subs and rightfully so.

And last night Dakich was FOS when he said it.

Go ahead and trust your eyes, I'll trust the guy who Zeller wanted to play for.

Teams get upset every year. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to understand. A 1 seed isn't a ticket to the Final Four. Everyone wanted to go farther. But it only takes one night.

It wasn't that we got upset by Syracuse, it was that we got demolished by Syracuse.  The "game plan" was awful.  The "substitutions" were awful.  The "overall preparation" of the team was awful.  These are things that anyone watching that game could see.

I do not know Cody so I will not speak as if I do, but in my opinion (and if someone who does know Cody would like to correct me if I am wrong, please do so) I believe Cody would have come to IU almost regardless who the coach was (within reason, not someone like Sampson).  If Coach Steven would have been at IU, I feel he would have came here even quicker than he did.  I feel that UNC was in there to appease his brother who was still playing for them at the time.  I don't feel that Coach Crean was the ultimate deciding factor in his recruitment.  I may be wrong, but that is what I have gathered from those who seem to know.

Now don't get me wrong, I wish Crean would succeed at IU, I like him as a person a great deal.  But he has not gotten 1 ounce better as a coach since the day he got here, he has just gotten better talent on the floor.  He has hit his ceiling and that ceiling should not be ok with IU or it's fanbase.  He is a decent coach and would be best served in a Mid Major program.  He is not an elite level coach and IU should demand an elite level coach.

You probably know better than I.  I just thought he was banned from that site so maybe there was a name change or something.  The guy really seemed ticked off quite a bit and was always mixing it up with Waffle.  Didn't Waffle and several of the members of HSN come from Scout?

When he was talking about masterful jobs, subs, or both? Dan mentioned the masterful job Coach Crean was doing and right there I turned to my wife and said this will not last.  You wait in 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks this cat will be changing his tune.  It was about two minutes later and he was yapping about substitutions.  I love the sincerity.

goColts had a feud with a mod on Scout. That mod left and went to start the original Hoosier sports nation, where GoColts was not welcome. Waffle was a regular there and I believe a regular on the new Hoosier sports nation site. GoColts is still not there; he may have reincarnated himself as a new poster on there but I can assure you he wouldn't be welcome as gocolts there. Go colts I believe is still a regular on the original scout board.

At the end of the day... I just wish Hoosier nation would come together under one united board and in general. It's sad how splintered we are as a fanbase. That is a big reason I want to see change. This splinter needs to be corrected soon and I just don't see it being corrected under Crean

I'm not following how Crean or any other coach is going to reunite multiple message boards. Please explain further.

Edit: Thank you for the recap on GC, Waffle & the split.

not reunite message boards per se, but reunite a splintered fan base by having a winning coach who everyone would back and rally behind. You know, a utopia of sorts. I'm kidding, and actually agree with the OPs thoughts.

When the thought process of those people who get together to discuss the termination of Glass Crean & Co approaches anything close to the bolded paragraph above,  then I also will say Tom Crean,  It's time ....  and Indiana will never again be the Indiana that I have loved.   In my opinion the below does not justify or explain the above thought process.

what can I say, Crean is an extremely polarizing guy. I have never seen a guy piss off so many fans, opposing coaches, alumni, players, faculty, aau coaches, high school coaches etcetera without being an all out scumbag, liar, cheater, loser etc. He has done a lot for IU and cares a lot about doing right, but somehow just rubs people the wrong way. There are just some people that you just don't like and it's hard to pinpoint one thing they said or did that was just too much and put it over the top, but you just don't care for them. That is Crean to me and a lot of people.

Whether it's his appearance, his sideline antics, his substitution patterns, his win/loss record, post season record, recruiting, transfers, over sign, halftime adjustments, resume, accountability, etc there will always be something that people are just turned off by.

He isn't the devil, bad person or terrible coach, he just has something about him that is soooo polarizing that fans will always be split about him and him as our coach. People have been arguing for and against him since his arrival and initially it seemed 75/25 in his favor it has slowly shifted to what seems closer to 25/75 against over the years. He has lost a lot of people including myself and I, like many others were staunchly in the wagon in the beginning. Too many things he has said and done that over time just get extremely old and frustrating to hear and watch.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know how the preparation was handled prior to Syracuse? I would love info on that if you are able to expand on that.
