Indiana vs Ohio State - Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Bright side----if you tell me before the game we will shoot over 50% against OSU----and approximately 60% from 3 against them and outrebound them----it would have surprised me that we lost by double digits.

This was not like the MSU beatdown----there were a lot of IU positives in this one.

We just couldn't stop them on defense----a lot like Maryland's performance against us a few days ago.  They shot well on the road and still got blitzed by us;

That's life on the road in the Big Ten-----flush it-----and let's get ready for Purdue in 3 days.

Could you combine these sentences into 1 paragraph, please? Seriously though, it is amazing how we keep outrebounding all these opponents with such a small lineup.

I'll get critized for this, but I don't really think JBJ is one of our Top 3 guys. And it's debatable he's that much "ahead" of RoJo. He is selfish with the ball a lot, forces shots, and kinda has the Holowell "I don't care" look most of the time. I'm glad he's on our side, I just don't think as highly of him as most...

Thats probably a fair criticism. I'm more concerned with him on the defensive end.

he is extremely lazy that is for sure. If he gets blocked going to the rim forget about him on defense because he will b lucky to ever get to half court before the other team scores.

Brave---your post will not be popular with the masses-----but I will say he disappears a lot for us. He is a freshman so I cut him some slack---but honestly I expected more from him by this point in the season too.  I hope it's still coming.

Stan getting minutes is mind blowing to me, he hasn't done much of anything all year. He's in a major slump..

Part of his minutes due to RoJo's knee injury (which we don't know the severity of) and the other part of his minutes because CTC is admittedly reluctant to have 3 freshman on the floor at the same time.  So if not Stan, who?

I don't think he's fully adapted to college ball vs high school.  It was easy for him in high school to score and he rarely had to play tough defense for extended minutes.  As for "the look", I saw him play multiple times in high school and he never showed lots of emotion.  Face was usually very expressionless.

Anybody hearing anything on RoJo's knee injury?

Anyone hear any post-game discussion about it ?

Agree Old Fart----I don't mind "the look" ---and he's already done more than Hollowell ever did.  I just keep waiting for him to start taking some games over.

I don't want JBJ and Holowell to ever be mentioned In the same sentence lol

Yeah, we could have played better. Yeah, CTC had Zeis and Stan on the floor for far too many minutes with RoJo on the bench. Holt, Hartman, Yogi and Blackmon all played pretty well.

I give credit to Ohio State here. OSU is a very good team that will come together, finish at least 12-6 in the B1G, make the NCAA easily. Look at KenPom, where OSU is #20, and even in RPI (the announcers made a big deal that OSU hadn't beaten anybody) they're not far behind us. Nobody can ever say Matta isn't a premier coach, either. I just wish we'd have had the opening when he said his dream job was at IU and we were still head-in-the-clouds over Davis' championship game appearance.

I don't think this a letdown from Maryland. I don't think this is a "down-to-earth" situation. I think Ohio State and IU could play 20 times with a 10-10 (or maybe 11-9 with the law of averages getting in there for a steal) outcome. To beat them at home and lose on the road isn't all that bad...really it's what we should have expected against a good team, assuming ours is good enough to win at home. I believe we can still finish 14-4 in B1G (at Wisky and at Maryland are questionable, although Northwestern taking Maryland to the wire on Turtle Court last night might bode well for us there), and I believe we will win at Purdue on Wednesday.

Crean said ROJO slipped on a poster or folder from the cheerleaders. Just stupid. These types of injuries make me mad. Still hasn't announced the severity of the injury.

Yeah, I hate that it was something preventable like paper laying directly under the basket.. ugh.

Rojo got back into the game in the second half, I believe, but wasn't effective.  If he got back into the game, i'd imagine that his injury isn't anything too serious.  Just hoping that he's tender or sore and that it will work itself out in the next few days.
