NOLA Hoosier

All-Time Hoosiers Starting Lineup

Recommended Posts

Since I'm really nervous this morning about the game tonight, I need something to lighten up the mood a little bit, and forgive me if this has already been a thread.

For those of you who would be interested, the graphic designer for IUBB posted something on his Instagram account asking what peoples' all-time starting 5 would be (his name is _itsabouttyme_ BTW).

So what say you Hoosier fans? Mine is:

Alan Henderson - PF

Calbert Cheaney - SF

Isiah Thomas - PG

Victor Oladipo - G

Steve Alford - PG

Matt Nover off the bench. Damon Bailey too.

PG - Isiah Thomas

SF - Calbert Cheaney

PF - Scott May

PF - Alan Henderson

Man, I didn't realize how deadly this line-up was until I started thinking about a 6th man. Would have to be Stevie Alford coming off the bench to hit some Treys.

Notables left out (Honorable Mention) - Damon Bailey, Uwe Blab (Senior Yr Uwe only, for some size off bench), Kent Benson, Eric Gordon, AJ Moye (Always been a favorite of mine)

Bellamy
Buckner
I. Thomas
May
Cheaney

Because Quinn should always be included

I would take this starting lineup.  Hard to pick just five though.  Filling out a 13 man roster, I would add Vic, Alford, Eric Gordon, Mike Woodson, Steve Downing (Mr., Triple Double), Alan Henderson, Jimmy Rayl, and Ray Tolbert (need size and Ray one of my favs - see pic to left. In fact, lets add Wittman, Kitchell, Turner, and J. Thomas from that '81 team as walk ons).

I have no idea where to start. There was Walt Bellamy, The Van Arsdales, John McGlocklin, Steve Downing, George McGinnis, Archie Dees, Jimmy Rayl, Don Schlundt, Bill Garrett, Joby Wright and Slick Leonard from the "oldies" category. Then there were the '75 and '76 teams with Buckner, May, Abernathy, Benson, Kitchel, Laskowski, Wilkerson, Woodson, Wittman, et al.

Then there’s Keith Smart, Dean Garrett, Steve Alford, Landon Turner, Zeke. When you add in the "recent" and current players, you can’t help but realize what an awesome group of talented kids we’ve had through the years.
