HMP likely out 2-4 weeks with a knee injury

Recommended Posts

Holt it's your time to shine baby. Terrible for Hanner. We can't downplay this. Teams are about to attack the middle with pure aggression now and we will have to give them the lay up. Hanner was the last person we could afford to lose. This big man situation issue just doubled.

I know H&H held the middle but OSU's big guys are a non factor.

Thats what I liked about Sampson. I want another Deandre Thomas or Marco Killingsworth on this team. Those guys would dominate this league in the paint. Doesn't fit Creans style, though.

Dominate seems like a very strong word to use in conjunction with Deandre Thomas.  I seriously doubt that he would help us out much, unless you are trying to put a buffet out of business.

Time to step up Emmitt

Many have been complaining that EH wasn't getting enough playing time so despite Creans reluctance, we're going to see just what EH is capable of for extended stretches.  I think he's going to make it very difficult for HMP to ever take back his starting position.

See, this is where we miss Etherington.

You must not pay much attention to Butler basketball.  He's a poor defender and has little lateral quickness.  Even on a bench thin  Butler team he does not get that many minutes per game.  He's a great kid, but transferring from IU was the best decision for him and for IU.

I think we should anticipate seeing a lot more of Hartman at the 5.  From what I've seen, I seriously doubt that April/Priller/Burton would provide better post defense or rebounding than Hartman, and he is light years ahead of them on the offensive side.  Also, if we throw Colin at the 5, he should create all kinds of matchup problems for the other team.

I hear what you’re saying, but Thomas was far from a dominator. He could hold his own a the buffet table, but the dude could hardly jump. And Killingsworth was not unlike the bigs that we’ve had since - somewhat streaky, and at times, very tentative with his "domination".

Poor attempt at sarcasm. Remember the Wisky game last year? Crean takes NV out in the last minute and has Etherington guard Kaminsky in the post only to promptly give up a three point play?

Several reports on twitter and elsewhere that Hanner is out "indefinitely". Not sure what changed, but apparently the injury is worse than first thought.

Being out indefinitely could literally mean any amount of time.  Perhaps these twitterers just prefer to be as vague as possible when they speculate.  Although, I agree that in the parlance of our times, the term indefinitely has taken on a more sinister tone.

It could, but it seems like when an injury status goes from something like "2 to 4 weeks" to "indefinitely" it usually isn't good.

Are you kidding? He's not even good enough to get much PT at Butler. He should have gone to Indiana State or Evansville...much more his speed.
