IU vs Louisville Game Thread

Recommended Posts

where you been, bro?

this game replaces the UK game, and actually...probably should happen every year...

It seems like i remember Pitino trying to get us in a home and home before our 2011 season but was rebuffed by Crean.

I find it curious...
that IU and UofL, a mere 2 hour drive apart...
have to meet in New York City to play...

that sucks for the local fans that would give up several dollars to attend, but can't due to the proximity of this meeting...

I live in Chicago and will be flying in to catch the game in NY. I get what you are saying but it's actually faster to get to NY than it is Bloomington or Lolville for some in the Midwest.

I say they both need to be on the schedule. this schedule is definitely more refreshing but we should just step it up a hair more and that will be good enough. Just one more rivalry matchup and I think the schedule is fine.

If we can't get UK, let's do Kansas, texas, florida, LSU, UCLA.. I like having Georgetown and the crossroads classic each year.

I would add Florida as a possible to your list.

I like the neutral court matchups, as long as they're against a team that's going to put asses in the seats.  Some of these teams, Georgetown for example, don't travel very well and the environment suffers tremendously.

The neutral court matchup would have to be against a big name school that travels well, and the home-and-home should be against a good program that's had recent success like Florida, Texas, Gonzaga, etc.

Local fans have the benefit of being local and can go see every home game if they wanted. This is literally the only game I know I will for sure be able to go to. I love that we can play in the biggest market in the country. It's also a great recruiting tool.

Seriously. I get exactly zero games coming to me unless they're in my region for the Tourney. I travel to Bloomington a couple times a year and catch whatever games happen to be there then and go to the Big Ten Tourney (Though, we'd better get better fast, I'm probably not coming out for the Wednesday games) which means I get to see around three IU games in person a year.

And one of the people I do the Big Ten Tourney with is having a baby the same week, so who knows if that is even going to work this year?
