Magnanimous

The holes in this roster are baffling

Egidius Mockevicius. He is a 6'-10 center at UE that I believe is set to graduate with a year of eligibility left. He isn't great, but he would be the best post player we would have on our roster this year. I would gladly trade a number of players we have for him. If Crean wants to be hear in 2017, he will need to address our post defense with something other than a 6'-6" wing player or a 6'-4" guard.

Mockevicius had 15 pts 11 rebs against Witchita St last night. Pretty sure this guys could find some minutes with IU's current squad. What is the email address or PO Box we need to send his highlight tape to?

This is the stuff that kills me.  Couldn't see him averaging less than 10 & 8?  Have you look at those players in the B1G who are averaging 10 & 8 or more?  I'lll save you the trouble, one is in the running for NPOY and the other B1G DPOY and all B1G.  So I'll go ahead and throw the BS flag on this.

The group mentality and snowball effect is full on 'round these parts.

This guy just had 15 pts and 11 rebs against Witchita St. The last time I checked they were ranked #11 in the country. The B1G has a total of 1 team ranked higher than that. So I would say he can do it against tough competition. Have you even seen him play or are you just going to recite players that are good in the B1G and not believe that anybody outside of our conference is capable of putting up 10 & 8 on a consistent basis?

They may be ranked high but they do not have much size.  I think the point is that to say a guy who is one of the biggest and most experienced bigs in a mid-major could just step in to the B1G where he is playing guys his size every night will see only a slight drop-off in stats is taking a big leap.

He had 15 and 11 against Wichita but he also had 8 and 4 against Drake and 10 and 4 against Southern Illinois.  If any IU big had stats like that against either of those teams who have almost no size no one would be impressed.

Kind of like our current big? Who is averaging 7 & 4.

Pretty much.  No one is really that impressed with him here given the presence of a thread like this.  I think Hanner would do really well for himself in the MVC.

It is this kind of thinking that baffles me. Why would coach take a shot with Nick Z? Same situation. He was playing in exact same conference. God forbid he actually made a move for a big man that he needs. Should probably just stick with April and Priller though since they are so proven against D-1 competition.

I think that if it was a possibility Crean would've been happy to take a chance on Mockevicius, but he wasn't transferring so it is a moot point.  Clearly Crean was looking at guys like him with the recruitment of Lee and Thompson but there are not many guys like that out there.

Unless you have a specific example of a guy like Mockevicius that was available and Crean passed on recruiting I don't really see your point.  In fact I would argue that a guy like Mockevicius is more likely to be found by bringing in kids like Priller and April who are lightly recruited and can be developed within the program.

He is a Junior graduating after this year with a year of eligibility left. He will be available at the end of the year.

Your argument makes complete sense which means it won't happen. Lets add a couple guards.

Why dont we just develop April? He looks talented.

Technically you would think he has been getting developed, especially with our lack of size, but for whatever hes eating up a scholly and sitting on the bench. You would think Crean would be trying to put him in, especially against purdue or other teams with a solid big man, im just as confused as to why hes sitting the bench when we could be developing him.

Yogi Ferrell will be playing at IU next year. This is his team. His GF is an IU cheerleader. Can we stop this crap? Hes not transferring or going pro.

nobody knows if Yogi will go pro except him and his family. To speak in absolutes like this is just going to disappoint you if/when he does go pro

Bottom line we need a big that can contribute, not two seven footers only good enough to be practice players. No excuse for IU not having a quality big year in and year out. NO excuse!!
