Devin Davis Updates

Recommended Posts

Partying and spending Monday talking about how much you drank over the weekend is not new to college kids these days. That's been going on for 20, 30, 40+ years. That's not new at all, or unique to the current college society. I went to school in the late 90's and that's all we talked about after the weekend too.

If anything the current social media/24 hour news cycle should make current college athletes even more careful.

I hope for Devin that he can heal up like he should. I think k this should not only be eye opening to the team about u de rage drinking and fooling around but I think this should be example to all college kids out there. I know Yogi got a hard time when he mentioned that society plays a role in all this but I agree with him. I'm a senior at ball St l, I don't drink (never have, never will) and on Mondays all I hear from fellow classmates is about how much they drank and how much they partied. ..like they should be given some sort of award. That's the society that is prevalent these days. Another outcome of this whole DD accident is that the law should probably crack down hard on kids drinking underage. Nothing negative or against DD. Probably not the popular opinion but I never have aligned with popular opinion.

To make it worse, some players tell these stories every day of the week about the night before. Not just Monday.

Well I didn't mean that partying was unique to this generation. Add being able to text, tweet, take video, and all other technology combined with partying. Being someone that doesn't drink, it seems that these days one is almost looked down upon for not drinking/partying.

That's also not a new thing.

You said being looked down upon for not drinking was new. That's not new.

On the tweet/text/video shouldn't that make people more careful, if anything?

Being able to tweet, text and film video on a phone isn't a new thing??? Okay?? I'm done with you lol

With Devin being young and in great shape, I'd have to believe that has helped him recuperate, although he has a long way to go. A cracked skull has got to be very serious. It's good to hear that he is progressing well. After colliding with a car/SUV, he's fortunate to be alive.

Devin is built like a tank. That Jeep is lucky if it's still functional.

All reports have stated he's progressing at an accelerated pace. I'm hoping this means he can take a medical redshirt this season and take the time he needs to get back on the court. Does anyone know more about the recovery period of an injury like this?

Don't want this thread getting off topic from updates and supporting Devin. There are other threads about the drinking and weed issues. Just want this thread to stay on topic and not be littered with issues that are being talked about in other threads.

The drinking issue unfortunately is the center of the Devin story. It wasn't a back and forth. It was a conversation, which is what this message board is for….

There are other threads for that. This one is for Devin Davis updates. It's pretty simple.

IU and Crean are always very tight-lipped on injury updates and a player's prognosis.

Now that I know he is progressing---I wish they would give us a projected timeline of recovery and what that recovery traditionally looks like---i.e.--is basketball in his future?

We'll keep praying---but as a curious IU BBall fan ---I sure wish we knew how it's looking for the future. One things for sure--- DD is one tough guy---if anyone can beat the odds or speed up the recovery process ---it is him!

If anyone hears specifics or reports from Coach or family---please post!

For legal reasons they aren't allowed to go into a lot of details on the players injury or prognosis. The player/patient is protected. And honestly in all reality, even if we are fans, the personal lives of players isn't really our business. I don't mean for that to come off in any snide way but thats actually how it works. (Not trying to start any sort of back and forth or discussion that would lead things away from DD). Hopefully everything works out the correct way

I believe coach Crean said during a podcast (ESPN?) that he hasn't heard anyone say basketball is not in Devin's future.  I don't think they place a timeline to return on something like this because it is unpredictable.  It's encouraging to see he is ahead of where they thought he would be though.

Sure would be great if we could get him back for B1G season.....yea I know....

You were reading my mind---Naples!

Let's be honest----he was an important piece to us having an outstanding year.  We can still be good and make the tourney but his absence is huge inside.

Get well soon DD!

The HIPAA rules make sharing any information of that type difficult unless you are the patient and or his/her legal representative.
