IU vs UIndy Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

The next day what stuck with me is still Collin's game. He was VERY slow, but he looked pretty good given the circumstances. Knocked down at least 2 open shots that I remember and had a few other little plays. Hopefully as he heals more he can get some movement back (he was never a burner) so that he can be better on defense. Excited to see what he brings these next 3 years.

Not worried about Jimbo. He missed some open shots and looked a little lethargic at times, but the shooting will even itself out and the watching will get fixed after looking at film.

Yogi's fast.

Zeisloft obviously isn't going for a 24 spot every night, but on nights he's off, he will bring leadership to the floor that will be absolutely necessary in every game this year.

I'm excited for Stan and Troy to get back now. They made stupid decisions, but the dust has settled a bit, they're still Hoosiers, and they are crucial to our success this year. Especially Troy on the boards as has been mentioned.

It counts Friday. Let's get this going!

Going off of the Collin part of your post, he had three blocks. I don't care that it was against UIndy, he obviously has somewhat of a nose for the ball and going up for blocks. I remember one was somewhat of a chasedown block and I was extremely impressed, especially given that he is coming off of an ACL tear.

And as far as JBJ goes, I honestly don't have a problem with him continuing to put up shots even if he is a little off. He is so flammable and able to go off at any time. I don't mind him putting up 15-20 shots a game for the time being (that'll obviously go down once Troy and Stan come back)

I think a lot of Hanner's problem is he is thinking about the move after he catches before its caught.

Like you said, concentration. More mental than physical.

Performance anxiety? Interesting thought. If that’s the case, how do we get him to the point that he just plays the game?

Yeah I remember that chase down block. And he was doing other little things as well. Nothing specific but I keep remember him always being around the ball and was super impressed with that.

I'm not sure I'd be against Jimbo putting up 15-20 even when Stan and Troy get back as long as he isn't forcing the issue. With us being uptempo, we can get him around that number without necessarily derailing our offense or anyone else's shot totals that need them. On his off nights he'll still be into double figures and when he goes off, look out.

give him a blue pill of course

Remember, he still needs some time to get used to playing more minutes and having weight on his shoulders...never had that before and practice can only go so far. It will come, just maybe not fast enough.

With Hanner, he just needs to not think. Just play. I know he worries about fouling and what his next move will be when he catches the ball because those are things he constantly screws up. He just needs to relax and do what comes natural. It's like hitting a baseball: your body just takes over. But if you are trying to analyze the pitch and your stance too much, you're going to mess up.

I mentioned this during the game, but for one three minute or so stretch when it was within 10 in the second half, we had a lineup of Hartman, RoJo, Z, Max and, I believe JBJ, holding their own, fighting, and building the lead a bit. Hartman being the only returning player from last year, having played minimal minutes. I was extremely encouraged by that. Obviously some of our role players may be more capable than we thought.

I'll be the first to admit I had written Hartman's IU career off already. Hope he continues to make me eat my words

Agreed. I was really worried/thinking he'd end up getting Creaned. If he plays like that consistently, we won't be able to let go of him... Heck, play like that and I'd want you taking major minutes, maybe even starting.

Great insight and posts and there always has to be one guy who sets off the fire Crean never ending firework show. This site should be for the above average IU fan who, despite circumstances, wants to talk about Indiana Basketball while the season is going on. The game threads and post game threads are a sanctum of just talking straight up hoops. I don't care if there are 18 fire Crean threads, please keep your crap out of the threads where we are having adult time. But when it comes to these threads, please go back to the kids table and complain about your stomach aches. Hell, I'll join you and complain about Crean as well. We all know what situation we are in. If you think one freaking person in this thread has zero clue about the situation surrounding our coach and this team, you are far more dense than I could ever imagine.

I can't help but to think you're formerly, "CampCrean?" ;)
