OliviaPope40 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Jaybob is all over that one! I want to be mad but I can't be. We all knew it was going to happen. It was a foregone conclusion, like it or lump it. TMI. Quote
Magnanimous Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Wouldn't have been surprised at first given he visted them during a whiteout, but PSU's QB situation and Hackenberg's regression gave me a little more hope he'd stay. But not a surprise. On the bright side, I think that this provides a great opportunity for Wilson to land a transfer from a big program. Sit next year while Nate finishes his IU career, then take over the team in 2016. ThompsonHoosier 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Jaybob is all over that one! I want to be mad but I can't be. We all knew it was going to happen. It was a foregone conclusion, like it or lump it. And how can you truly blame him. If you're a stud QB, would you want to play for IU after all the years of sub-mediocrity teams we've fielded? Look at Tevin Coleman. A fantastic running back who's not going to get the collegiate recognition he deserves because of the team he's on. Quote
iubirdman Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Can someone answer this question for me? Everyone wants to say how much of an offensive mastermind of a coach we have and how he is great for QB's development and all that BS, but when you look at the guys who were committed and or left the program there has to be a reason why. We have lost to transfer Caufman and Tre, and had Gunner and Stevens decommit. All of them better that anyone we have able to play now, and arguably, 3 of them better than anyone we had at the start of the year. Do a ton of people overvalue what they think he is capable of as an offensive mind, or is he that big of a pr!$k that no one at that position wants to play for him, or do we just have bad luck? Caufman left because he knew he was behind Tre and Sudfeld and would never get playing time unless they both got hurt. Tre left because he didn't want to play in a system where he didn't know whether he was going to start until a day or two before the game. Also he knew that if he had a poor game, he would be benched in favor of Nate. So you can't blame either one of those guys for leaving. Gunner? Well he had commitment issues...and not just to IU. Stevens? Can you blame him after the season we've had? Still screw James Franklin, I hate that guy! WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
akhosrof Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Ouch this one seriously hurts. Can't lose an in state guy like this. If Wilson can't land a big name transfer its going to be very tough to win the next few years without depth at the most important position on the field. God forbid but if Sudfeld goes down again in 2015 there is no way the team can make progress. This is concerning as far as Wilson goes. He can't even sell to QB recruits the idea of building the offense around them. Quote

Yes. Probably all of the above. Wilson does come off as a bit of a richard, so I can see that ruffling the feathers of a young stud wannabe. And luck (plus history) has to factor in, as well. Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Maybe we don't need a quarterback. Are there any successful programs that don't use a quarterback? Well, it could be done. We’ve played a lot of basketball without a post player before. Why not? :) Quote
ThompsonHoosier Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Time to start recruiting Isaac James as a QB? Played QB for Carmel...just needs to develop his arm. Quote

Magnanimous Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 James Franklin has essentially cost Christen Hackenberg $20 million. He was sacked ten times yesterday. I never thought that Stevens was really in contention to be a serious threat to start for PSU anyway, as Franklin is essentially the Tom Crean of CFB who always has his eye on the next big thing, but this flip keeps looking worse.
