You have a point Laz--if you have all the FACTS.

 

I am old school too---but when I was remotely involved with the IU discipline process in the 80-90's there was a set policy of how violations were to be handled. That is so there would be consistency in IU athletics and certain people would not get special treatment.  I believe a set policy would also exist today.

 

I know an IU player that had multiple violations in the Knight era and he stayed for the remainder of the season and then transferred the next season. I can only imagine what is in the handbook today---probably counseling/rehab are required after certain violations.

 

Point is---we don't know what the violations are and we don't know what the policy is and Crean does not strike me as someone who is going to ignore the rules, especially with the administration looking over his shoulder.

 

I am as frustrated as the next fan at what is happening at my beloved alma mater---but until I have FACTS that Crean is not following the rules---then I am putting the blame where the blame goes---on the players.

 

I don't care about what Dakich or others who want to pile on say--I care about what Crean's former players say and when people like Hulls, Zeller, and Oladipo came out in defense of Crean---that's enough for me to reserve judgment until I have the FACTS.

I've always said that was Coach K's best job, though the NCAA was woefully down that year in terms of talent. But the point is, that's one of the only examples.

Is there an official "IU Fan Book" out there somewhere that says, as a fan, I have to root for and support everyone who is on the current roster and staff? Please show me that book because as an IU fan for over 50 years, I've never seen it. There is at least one player on the roster who needs to be gone from IU yesterday. Why should I root for him? Just because when he isn't suspended, he wears an IU uniform? Get real. I don't park my brain somewhere else when I follow IU sports. When I see things happening at my alma mater that I can't support, I don't support them. I want them cleaned up. And a trip to the tournament isn't going to automatically make things a-okay. As an IU fan, I have higher standards than that. This isn't UK or Syracuse or some other Mickey Mouse basketball program where winning is everything.

No there isn't an IU fan book. I was simply stating my opinion as to how I view things.  We are on a message board where we can express our opinions. I simply stated mine. I don't know I originally came to this site for some great IU conversation. There are some great people on this site who share some great info, but mostly its a bunch of people trying to flex their knowledge and whatnot. People are worried that some players are jerks to other people on campus and think they are all that, well some posters need to take a look in the mirror as well. Since day 1 most people have been pretty darn rude on here in my experiences. There is a way to handle things and talk with people without coming off as a jerk. Not directed at you Laz but you got your feathers all ruffled over nothing. 
This site, instead of being fun like it should, has turned into a site filled with drama. Just not worth it anymore, so Im gone. My posts weren't that insightful really so my input won't be missed hahah

Games will be starting soon and hopefully that will give us all something positive to post about----or Kepner ---you can try one of my tricks and take a break for a few days and then come back refreshed and ready to battle.

 

It is disappointing that the negativity keeps increasing on this Board---but that is the reality of IU BBall at the moment.  I am hoping that will change.  But---it will only occur with wins and no more violations.

I'd agree with you here that the more fair statement would be there are some blind loyalties on both sides. I'm not saying Crean isn't above any criticism either. Most that he receives is warranted, but still like that he's our coach.

Well so much of the arguments devolve into the stupid extreme arguments you brought up. I try to toe the line between the two to the best of my ability. It is disappointing that so many arguments become those extremes. I will say I like this site better than most in regards to not devolving to the most basic arguments

  No reason for anyone to leave.People will disagree and there will be extreme post on both ends of the spectrum.

If we all agreed on everything this place would get really boring really fast.

I'm on both sides of the fence on this topic because there should be middle ground in this Crean  debate.He's done some really good things here but at the same time other areas such as in game adjustments and player discipline leave a lot to be desired.
