I'm pretty sure the scholarship reduction was in reference to the previously imposed self sanctions.

According to the ESPN article, the NCAA accepted the self imposed post season ban, but will face additional scholarship reductions and recruiting restrictions.

Absolutely. They can hope a couple of kids leave early but they really got their hands tied with the scholly reduction.

They already have two 2018 recruits committed.

Now they need to do the same to UNC. The NCAA is not one to use the therm indefinite that term has been used so many times in college basketball season that I don't even know the actual definition anymore and we've used it for injuries and crimes of immaturity but then look at the outburst on that display of childish behavior.

That puts them at 13 if nobody leaves early.  They may have to Crean some people just to get to the number. This is huge for us. If Romeos parents really want to go to games its U.S. Or UK so fingers crossed they really to hate them.

No but they did it for football. You can't vacate all the wins that led to it but keep the award that would be more of a joke. Like Purdues big ten title.

Basketball is the cash cow for the NCAA. Follow the money.

ESPN is the only outlet reporting additional scholarship bans. I can't find that wording in any other article, but most of them reference the scholarship bans from the self-imposed sanctions.

This is hilarious and so Louisville of them. "But the sex acts weren't worth that much so they shouldn't count to much.."

Web view for the Twitter tweet.

So they went cheap with the hookers they hired?  Shouldn't that be even worse?

If Slick Rick had any moral character he'd fall on his sword and resign but he's proven earlier in his life that he has no moral character.  Same to be said about Boeheim who should have resigned when Syracuse was penalized for academic issues.  I hope there is a major backlash against Pitino and the Louisville AD from the L'ville fans and major $ donors.

After reading all of these comments I am fairly surprised... I actually think this is a very Severe penalty and actually overly severe...

There is no way to ever prove that Pitino had knowledge... I personally believe he had to see/hear something at some point but there is NO way to prove that ever. McGee did it and is being punished by a 10 yr ban.

The fact is they gave approx $10k over a 4 yr span to recruits and/or players.... They should be punished for that, but not the death penalty.... A post-season Ban, Scholarship reductions, Recruiting limitations, and a loss of a **** ton of money from Conference for Tournament appearances.... Not too mention the Bad Press and loss of money that undoubtedly came from that.

Add in a perfectly fair 5 Conference Game suspension for Rick saying the Head Coach should know even if he doesn't sounds like the extent of it...
