RaceToTheTop Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 One thing I did notice was that mine and LCS's lists had 23 of the 25 top 25 the same even thought hey were meant to measure different things. The two teams he had in that I did not were Clemson (21st) and Michigan State (23rd); the two teams I had in that he didn't were San Diego State (14th) and Auburn (22nd). Both of the teams I had in that he didn't were on his 'considerations list; Michigan State, which he had in, was on my considerations list while Clemson I had a lot lower (36th overall). New Mexico needs to break their two game losing streak and Oral Roberts is flying under the radar, but that's a pretty good team. Only losses so far are road losses to St. Mary's, Utah State, and Houston. Problem for Oral Roberts is that and New Mexico are there only chances for statement games and that assumes New Mexico keeps playing well. Uspshoosier 1 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Conner Vanover is the strangest player in D1. 7'5", on his third team (Cal, Arkansas, Oral Roberts). Can shoot the three some, hell of a free throw shooter, but not necessarily that good at doing what a 7'5" should be good at (inside game, rebounding). IU/Butler/Notre Dame and Uspshoosier 2 Quote

reconmkd Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Anyone listen to Rick Boyages talking about officiating? don’t know what to really think about his comments, but as the Associate Commissioner of Mens Basketball for the B1G, he blames the coaches for the differences between B1G and other conferences. Says that all B1G refs officiate other conferences all the time and they don’t control our conferences preference to tackle basketball. Let’s see who would he be specifically talking about? Quote

So the coaches blame the officials and the officials blame the coaches for the current state of B1G officiating. The coaches will do anything within what they're allowed to do to win so it's the officials that need to make the change. Foul out 1/2 a roster and throw a few coaches if that is what it takes, but they'll get it and adjust accordingly. I don't know how one can blame the coaches for the inconsistency within a single game or between separate B1G games, though. Quote

Thats why I didn't know what to say and this guy is apparently involved with scheduling and has or still does evaluate refs. Typical B1G official response to any negativity, well its not us, its them. He mentioned that the conference drops the hammer on refs that miss obvious rules and will suspend them for a game or 2 to hit them financially (refs paid $3.5-4K a game according to Rick). Well if that is true than I want to see the official punishment for the refs with the Fran incident the other night! southsidehoosier 1 Quote

One game you’ll have freedom to hammer guys at the rim and 3 nights later your best player fouls out in 18 minutes on 5 ticky tack fouls. It all leads to your last point in which none of these games have any flow because the calls are totally different night to night/arena to arena since the teams spend half of the first half just trying to figure out what they can and can’t do. It’s horrible basketball to watch. go iu bb and jepwatso 1 1 Quote
