Swopes got fouled on his 2nd attempt. No surprise the refs decided to swallow their whistles. But he was tackled. So much for "giving shooters space to land."

Refs always wait until the end to swallow the whistle. They call that 5 minutes into the game.

Yeah, totally agree. I get that it's their offense but you've got to have better situational awareness/discipline as a player to understand with a 3 point lead and 22 seconds on the shot clock with a 1:20 left in the game, that the clock is your friend, and work for a better look (manufactured two ideally) or at least get the same shot with less time on the clock by moving the ball. It could have been a dagger but it also completely flipped the game on it's head. 6 point swing. You could see the disappointment on his face at the end sadly

That's just it.  Up with two min left, have to focus on good quality shots rather than the stats.  Those missed threes early in the shot clock are killers.  Coach needs to make that adjustment to his offense.  I think a similar thing happened in the MVC tourney.

Absolutely fantastic game.

Two teams that deserved to be in the big dance. 

Two great seasons regardless of tonight's outcome. 

Nice to see Shaheen pick Avila's chin up at the end there in the handshake line.

Can't really change who you are with 2min in the season left. Space and open 3's drive those offenses and the analytics don't really tell you to pass up open 3's from good shooters.  They were basically the same shots that put them up 7 with 3 to go.  

 

That's not to say I disagree with you guys.  My previous post made that clear I hope. But all those shot charts of Alabama that show literally only 3's and layups attempted don't happen by accident.  It's what the players are taught to hunt all season. 

 

Great game. Sad for the trees fans. Still a good story.

I was watching the game and got a call with Indiana State up 77-70.  Mid call I looked and saw that Seton Hall had won 79-77.  Worse was that I couldn't even rewind on youtube tv because it had switched to the slam dunk program.

What happened??
