"this loss isn't as bad as others" or "this loss won't hurt the resume too much." It's still a loss. It's still bad. And we lose a lot. I think he is talking about your tournament resume and losses are viewed differently. Quote

Every team has lost, most more than once and to a team they shouldn't have. Clearly no one is worthy of a championship, so it is time to just end it. Maybe that will teach teams to play harder and smarter if they stop getting rewarded for being less than perfect. Why would anyone want to watch losers play against other losers just to find out who the last loser standing is? I say just play the season until there is only one team remaining that hasn't lost, then crown them the champions. It'd make for awfully short seasons and we'd miss out on some great games but it's the only way I see to avoid rewarding losers. While we're at it, maybe we should consider instituting some kind of punishment for the losing players and coaches. The time of fans clearly wanting it more than players and coaches has to come to an end. For that matter, with games meaning so much more now, why even bother with coaches who are demonstrated losers? Why reward a losing coach with a contract worth millions and any semblance of job security? Instead, let's have the most dedicated and knowledgeable fan from each team coach. Until they lose of course, then they have to go. We might just have to substitute fans for players too, if the players keep bringing less effort than the fans and especially if they continue to tolerate losing more than the fans. go iu bb and IU Scott 2 Quote

Some can look at things objectively and realize that all programs go through the same things. Some others just look at the team they supposedly are fans of and think we are the only team with those problems. I see people saying how we don't know how to face a zone just because some moron said so. Some just go with that theory because they want to have a reason to bash the coach. Like in 2016 where we lost to Syracuse people couldt believe how bad we did against their zone but they never look at that everyone that year struggled with their zone. Quote

Iowa isn’t a bad team they just had a brain fart against a terrible team even if their best player was out. Iowa has a convincing win against Iowa st who is good. They have neutral court win against Clemson and road win at Seton Hall. People can trash IU for losing to them on the road but that’s not a bad loss for IU We might have different definitions of a brain fart. Losing your man on a single play seems more like a brain fart to me. Getting beat on your home floor to a team THAT bad? It wasn't like they played bad and got beat on a last second shot. They were handled in the second half by a team that sits at 350 on Kenpom AFTER winning at Iowa. That's horrible. They followed that up by getting run by Nebrasketball before looking bad at Penn State for ~35 minutes. The Iowa loss itself isn't bad. Couple how it played out with what we've seen earlier in the season and it's bad. Add to that what Iowa looked like prior to that game and what we did in the first part of the first half. Ouch. I have said our fans have been part of the problem and I am referring to fans like you. At every turn you take a chance to bash the coaches and players and maybe players and coaches don't want to play for fans like you. I have been told the fans have nothing to do with it so how are fans settling for mediocrity effect the team. We have had 6 coaches and 5 AD's in the last 23 years so I think that shows that no one has settled for mediocrity. RaceToTheTop 1 Quote
