Some hot takes from last night
Michigan State I am not sure if they are good or not.  They are very back and forth.  Probably good knowing Izzo.

Illinois is better than I thought.   That unbalanced conference schedule looks large.  No room for error on our part
If last nights IU and last nights Kansas teams were to play at Kansas we have a shot.

I was in on Illinois. This is proving true. As much as I hate Underwood, I respect him. He creates winners. I had them #2 in the big.

Michigan State admittedly is surprising me. I’ve always like Hall. He’s really good. Izzo obviously does a good job winning but he’s got to be even exceeding his own expectations. Sissoko is better than expected. Bench is thin. Walk/Hoggard/Akins very capable guards. I think our size is a big issue for them.

The B1G has some damn good coaches. That’s for sure.

Last nights win was huge for us. Win 1 or 2 of the next 3 big ones and we are in great shape.

MSU looks better than I thought, although st this time of year Izzo is usually playing like ten guys or more significant minutes, and he’s a little tighter right now. They’ve got about 6 guys he trusts, two of whom — Hoggard and Sissoko — are also very up and down. Maybe Kohler comes around as #7, but they are not very deep. Fine unless they have injury issues.

1st game since the tragedy, UVA upset Baylor...and scored 86! in regulation!

Armaan had 26

They were so smart and composed down the stretch in the face of that crazy Baylor pressure. Bennett is such a good coach.

Well they only have 10 scholarship players, 3 of which are freshmen. So he doesn’t have a choice

was saying it all summer, it will be interesting to see how it plays out in a long season

My opinion on the top teams in the B1G based solely on the eye test.

1. Illinois (they look like they have the most balance and talented guards)

2. Indiana (Thought we were the deepest and most balanced but this last game exposed that. It’s the TJD and X show. Still a great win on the road. Our shooting is worrisome to me.)

3. MSU (Gonzaga is a paper Tiger and one dimensional. Not one of the better Mark Few teams. Kentucky can’t shoot the ball worth a lick and I think that great teams have to be able to shoot from the perimeter. MSU can win the B1G this season. They look like the most cohesive unit.)

I think we have the most upside if we can maximize our talent. X is clearly our most dynamic PG and the offense needs to be initiated through him. We’re flat out better when that’s happening. JHS will get more comfortable and find a way to have a better impact I’m sure. Very very concerned with Kopp’s position. He kills us while he’s out there. When people argue that he gets lost less on D, that’s not an adequate excuse for him to play the minutes he’s getting imho. Geronimo will get lost less with more confidence. More confidence will come with more minutes and being allowed to play through mistakes. Imagine if Bates or Geronimo were allowed to play with the amount of leash afforded to Kopp. He’s an end of the bench player in my view.

Should be an exciting and stressful season for us all. That’s what we’ve all be begging for. Bring on Miami OH!

Oakland/Eastern Michigan going to OT.    Eastern couldn’t inbounds the ball and Oakland scored with 1.8 to tie it up

Oakland wins it lol.   Eastern Michigan couldn’t even get a shot off to try and tie it up.    Brutal

Wow, that's an epic comeback. Or collapse, depending on your perspective. I personally go with it being an epic collapse since one would have to make a lot of mistakes to blow a 20 point lead in less than 5 minutes. Especially in what wasn't an abnormally high scoring game, at home, and against a much lower ranked team.

Game isn’t on espn+ or I would have went back and watched it.   But looking at the play by play they were also up 8 with around 50 sec to go.    Wild going through the last 5 min of play by play.    A lot of foul shots for the Louisiana team that came back
