Went to Virginia -Louisville game today. A few takeaways:

1) KFC Yum Center is an awesome place for a game! I'm considering going to the Sweet 16 games in March. Sat up high and still had a good view of the court.

2) Louisville fans whine at everything. Same with Mack. However, I think he is a good fit and he will have Louisville back in the Final 4 sooner rather than later. Nwora is a stud that will be back with a stud freshmen class. I think he took in a couple grad transfers that made them better. I hope Archie can do that next year.

3) Virginia is a final four team. I think this is Bennett's best team. Hunter is a star. He took over in the second half, Jerome is a very good point guard who I think will play at the next level. Kyle Guy is a kid I wish Indiana would have gotten. He is a good rebounder for a small guard. Virginia also has 3 bigs they rotate and all had an impact today. They always play good defense but they move the ball really well. I usually pick Virginia to get upset early due to their offensive woes but I think this may be there year they get to a final four and win the whole thing.

4) Got a good kick out of the program. They had a page or two dedicated to the 2012 and 2013 teams and it said "later vacated". The banner is gone too!

U.Va. -- down by 10 at halftime -- wins at Louisville by 12. ... Cavs are 32-3 in past 35 ACC games.

I know it won't mean much unless they do anything in the NCAAs, but I think this is the year they turn the corner.

I agree. They have a ton of experience. This is his best offensive team too.

I know March is what matters most. However, I would take Virginia’s success with Bennett in a heartbeat. It beats dwelling in mediocrity

The better teams are going to get the BOTD. It’s that simple

Why should any team get the benefit of the doubt? When an official sees a foul they should call it. That doesn’t happen because refs have your line of thinking. That’s not how sports should be officiated.

In some alternate universe, officials wear glasses that only allow them to see figures and not uniforms or players.

What? No lol. The committee isn’t stupid enough to put a team that would be 17-14 overall and 8-12 in conference into the tourney. That’s if we won our remaining 4. We are in “having to win the Big Ten Tourney” territory now.

There is still a way for IU to get in without winning the conference tourney. However, this team is pretty much done for the season so it doesn’t really matter.

No way. We'd have 15 losses. An at-large bid is gone and has been for awhile now.

They are not going to win out but if they did and made the semifinals or finals they would be closer then you think with 15 losses. 4 games or better over 500 is the number you would need to pay attention to. Bubble is weak and winning out and winning those games in the tournament would add more quad1 wins. They have 5 as of today. IU is the only team with 5 quad 1 wins and are projected out of the field. Again they will not win out in the regular season so nothing to worry about. Fun to speculate.

The problem with with this Quad thing is that it is making losing not mean anything almost. You can even see it with this. Don has even mentioned it on Dakichs show. These kids on this team don’t even seem to care about losing. Which he blames AAU. Like I’ve said before, there is no standard and it’s an absolute joke for teams like Indiana, Clemson and Oklahoma to even be in a conversation of the NCAA tourney.

The quad system is what it is. Losing will always matter. If losing didn’t matter then IU would be projected in the tourney with 5 quad 1 wins. Since they have been losing 12of 13 their losses stacked up and made those wins worthless. I’m not getting into the debate on the selection process You know my thoughts and I know yours

Good to be back in this thread. I’ve been sick this week and this had been the longest I have a gone without watching college basketball during the season. I was getting the shakes. I will have a lot of games to catch up on the dvr.

Now some live updates.

Toledo up 1 over northern Illinois with 30 secs to go

I agree with you.

That being said, I would think nobody really wants to play us in the BTT.

And that’s what makes pretty good teams able to close out games they probably should have lost. It’s cool to be mentally tough and well coached but when you get a defensive stop because the ref doesn’t call a mugging it helps. When you get extra free throws down the stretch when you weren’t touched, it helps. So mentally tough and well coached helps a lot when you call the fouls.

It’s garbage and the conference suffers for it.
