MemphisHoosier Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 UNLV takes down #3 Arizona. Interesting note...kenpom ranks UNLV at 118, and, for comparison sake, has Eastern Washington at 102. ccgeneral, rebelhoosier848891, Happydaze and 3 others 6 Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 And it seems like people would be much more OK with losing to UNLV than to Eastern Washington... Definitely effect of a name brand versus a lesser known school. Objectively, losing to EWU is not as bad as losing to UNLV, but subjectively, it's much worse. WayneFleekHoosier and bnkepner 2 Quote
HoosierHoops1 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Exactly, that's why I try to look at it objectively. It's definitely hard to do sometimes. Who would want to lose to Wichita State? Quote
bnkepner Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I watched that game and I think Goodluck is actually pretty solid. He's bad offensively, always was, but his defense and shot blocking are pretty good and would definitely have helped us. I'd say of all the guys we missed on (Pinson, Anthony Lee, Goodluck Okonoboh) he'd be the best. After seeing them play Im glad we "missed" on them. Yes Goodluck would've added some defensive help but not much Quote

8bucks Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 The EWU loss though was just bad because of how it happened. We had the game won and EWU did not look to be a problem. We lost not because they were a team to be reckoned with but because we could not finish the game. We could not defend and gave up layup after layup during the last 5 mins. Last year we had a lot of similar losses in the BT and were equally bothered. Games we control throughout but cannot close out. Sure EWU being the team that came back did not help but the manner on which we lost was this issue for me. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 That was a good win for UNLV----didn't think they would beat Arizona! 8bucks 1 Quote
bleedhoosier Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 At this point, I think if we didn't lose to EWU people would be over the moon with the season. Take care of Georgetown and we are right back on track. If Perea shows up against Georgetown also, I'm not sure we necessarily "missed" on any big ALASKA HOOSIER, Stuhoo, shortspacequickness and 1 other 4 Quote

At the end of the day, that won't be a bad loss. We will have worse losses upcoming almost assuredly. Georgetown presents a challenge different than any other so far. bleedhoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Georgetown will present a strong challenge-----they are 7-3 Their only losses are to Kansas by 5----Butler by 6----and Wisconsin by 3. We had better bring our A game! WayneFleekHoosier, bleedhoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote
bleedhoosier Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I haven't watched Georgetown this season so don't know anything other than kenpom ratings look like they have a good but not as good of an offense as the hoosiers. But their defense is big league compared to ours. rebelhoosier848891 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Yeah---they are not as strong offensively. Georgetown's leading scorer is Smith-Rivera but he only shoots 27% from 3 point range and 39% overall. But their D is solid----look like Louisville-Lite. Their D will keep them in the game and we will have to hit shots to beat them! bleedhoosier, WayneFleekHoosier, Walking Boot of Doom and 1 other 4 Quote
BlueDevil Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Boggles my mind how UL was able to drop 94 on IU with how awful they are on offense. Don't want to hear about he D Louisville has had many open looks. Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Hate watching UL vs UK. UK scares me to death to go undefeated. Really hope UL takes advantage of UK's turnovers in the 2nd half!!! mamasa and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Crud---UK wins 58-50 over UL. UK is scary---that is some defense. They may enter the NCAA tourney unbeaten. WayneFleekHoosier and GloryDays 2 Quote
