I believe it. Kid was an obvious 1A talent for any team. Kentucky is exceedingly desperate for a title.
UK boards seem to believe it, and they’re calling their program dead because he chose May over Pope+$$$. If they’re dead what are we?

Lot of internet chatter that Hubert Davis is out at UNC.  Reportedly some big $ boosters have said they've lost faith.

This will be a very interesting coach search.  UNC is probably the best job in CBB or #2 at worst.

Can they snag a top P5 coach?  Should be a lot of drama…

UK had a lot of swing and misses 2 years ago. But it should be interesting

Seems like UK and UNC have them beat in NIL, but maybe that’s because of Davis. I agree though, easy top 4 job with lots of pull. They’ve never gone outside the family though

Yep, top 5 job hands down. I’ve heard some Oats talk but I also think Oats to UNC is like Beard to Indiana.  Don’t think the boosters will get behind the off court stuff.  Very curious who this turns out.  Davis is subpar though.  He does decent with a lot of talent but clearly doesnt push it ahead.

He’s done pretty well there. A national final and another S16 in five years. 
No tourney wins in a few years and they’re ready to bail. “The fanbase is the problem!”

I can’t fault em if they think it’s time and hire an upgrade. Knowledgable, passionate fanbase.
They’re a serious program, top 5 job, so UNC will cut bait after 2-3 years if they hire the wrong one.

Another perfect example. And it’ll be the right move. Even if they goof up the hire.  He’s not a great coach, and at a UNC with their resources they should have a great coach. Easy choice.  Definitely their version of Woodson. But Davis’ intermittent success makes it slightly harder.

Respecting their ball-knowing, passionate, massive fanbase by moving on from a subpar coach. They know the value of their base to the overall brand and success.
Good for them.

We kept a guy who antagonized the fans and turned players against us.
