One of my best friends plays D3 football and he says anytime the captains hear of someone going out they ride the kid to the point they don't want to go out when it's a violation of the team rules they have set. There's only so much Crean can do beyond setting the rules. The issue IMO is getting the players with the mindset to enforce them. And WANT to live by them. We need kids who eat sleep and breath basketball. That their idea of a good time is practicing/lifting/running, not drinking. There are players like that out there

When I read all these twiiter posts that he was going to be talking about IU I knew it was going to be him throwing everyone under the bus. He says things have been out of control since Knight left...that includes Simpsons staff which Dakich was apart of. When Sampson and Dakich were here most players weren't attending class and a group of players failed drug tests for weed. Sampson and his staff (Dakich included) cared about winning and nothing else, they didn't care about off court issues

Dakich is indicating he was "on their ass". He was overruled by superiors.

When someone else in the know like Dakich stating Crean's contract may have been broken, would you believe it then? Dan states the obvious; at least for those that know what it takes to play for Indiana. And no more excuses that start from the top. Do you think Crean will admit that these are even his players royally screwing up or will he blame it on the culture Sampson started?

He's a Freshman picking up people from a party. Seems like he was the one who was being responsible. Not sure where that vitriol is coming from.

Didn't you know that Dakich was perfect and knew nothing about Sampsongate? Also, when they found lighters in players lockers and half of the team had Fs, Dakich had no part in that either. Nope. It was everyone elses fault

Bc they are out drinking the night before a public scrimmage that die hard fans look forward to attending and want to be rewarded by seeing a team that has been busting their ass and playing for the name on the front of the jersey. Instead we have a bunch of guys looking forward to partying and having fun. I agree that anything about Holt and being at fault in the accident is dumb, but the fact that he is getting behind the wheel after underage drinking the night before a scrimmage is the issue.

This bothers me as well.  Holt very well could have been at the party to DD (ordered to by the upperclassmen..)  Then at the party ordered to drink a beer, or have one to somewhat fit in and not be the total outcast.  I don't place any blame on Holt for this.  I feel really bad for the kid and whatever circumstances surrounded the incident that we do not know.
