Women are in Ann Arbor this weekend for a weekend series with Michigan (24-18) (10-7) and Mother Nature may have a say in the schedule.  Friday's forecast calls for rain and winds ENE 10-20 mph.  Saturday dry but showers again on Sunday.  Temps in the 50's all 3 days.

After 3, Hoosiers lead 2-0 scoring both runs in the 1st inning.  Copeland on the mound and has given up 2 hits and 1 BB.

Hoosiers win 4-1.

RBI single from Kern in the 5th made it a 3-0 Hoosier lead and a run in the 7th 4-0.  Michigan scored 1 in the 7th but Hoosiers win the opener of the doubleheader 4-1.  Copeland went the distance and scattered 7 hits and a BB.  Bassett 3-4, Kern and Copeland each 2-4. 

Great effort and catch by Kettlemen in the 6th.

After 4, Hoosiers lead 7-1.

Michigan scored a run in the 1st but we got 2 in the 2nd courtesy of 2 HBPs and a WP sandwiched around a fielder's choice.  We added 3 in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th on a Kern 2-run HR.  Johnson on the mound for game #2 and has given up just 3 hits.

Hoosiers doing to the softball Wolverines what Maryland did to the Hoosier baseballers earlier today.  15-1 Hoosiers with Michigan batting in the 6th.  We've scored in every inning but the 1st.  We've pounded out 13 hits of which 3 were HRs  --  2 by Kern who has 4 RBI.  Copeland 2-3 with 3 RBI and Mitchell 2-4 with 2 RBI.  Johnson still only given up 3 hits through 5 innings and has yet to walk a batter.

15-1 is the final score and Hoosiers sweep the doubleheader.  Johnson pitched a 3-hit complete game.

That likely punches IU's ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 12 years if they don't have a slip up against Michigan St at home next weekend who is the worst team in the league.

What a nice job Shonda Stanton has done turning the program around.

The women get a road sweep against Michigan with a 6-5 win today despite getting outhit 14-8.  Mitchell our lone batter with more than a single hit.  Montgomery started but was replaced by Copeland to start the 2nd and in turn was replaced by Johnson with 2 out in the 7th.  

Regular season ending series next weekend hosting Michigan State with the B1G tournament to start the following Wednesday at Illinois.

Well I thought they clinched a bid with the win yesterday but this removed any remaining doubt.

They have a series with MSU next weekend and then the conference tournament. Not sure if they will host a regional if they win they win the conference tournament they likely will if they do.

No chance they host. RPI is to low even if they win the Big Ten Tourney. Northwestern will host, but IU will not even if they sweep the Big Ten Tournament and sweep MSU. Their RPI is simply to low and will not finish higher than the mid 20's no matter what. Need to be in top 20 at minimum to host and no way the Hoosiers can get there.

IU women (37-15) (15-5) host Michigan State (14-29) (4-16) this weekend.   Beautiful weather Friday and Saturday; possibly some a.m. thunderstorms on Sunday.

Again need a sweep which is very likely as IU has best offense in conference and MSU has worst pitching. You do that and you are in the NCAA Tourney with 40 wins (first time since 1994) regardless of how things go in Big Ten Tourney. You also lock in to no. 2 seed for it with all three victories which needs to be the expectation.

Lose even one and you might need to win a game or two in conference tourney.

MSU scored a run in the 1st but Hoosiers responded with 3 of their own that included a 2-run HR by Copeland who's also today's starting pitcher.

We added 4 more in the 2nd on a Kern double, a Minnick triple and a Stone sac fly.  Hoosiers lead 7-1.
