Final game of the invitational vs. Marshall.  Copeland started but relieved in the 2nd by Kleiman after giving up 2 solo HRs and another run for a 3-2 Marshall lead after 2 innings.  We had scored single runs in the 1st and 2nd, the latter coming from a Benson inside the park HR.  We broke it open in the top of the 4th scoring 6 runs with nobody out on a Cooper 3-run HR, an RBI double from Bassett and a 2-RBI single from Minnick.  We then had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Marshall was gracious enough to walk in our 9th run of the game but we couldn't do any further damage.

Hoosiers lead 9-3 after 3 and a half innings.

Women scored 8 in the first inning and have added 3 more in the 4th and lead 11-2,  Johnson started but was replaced in the first inning by Kleiman who's only allowed 3 hits since taking the mound.  Bassett has had 2-HR on the day and driven in 4 runs.  Stone has had 2 hits and driven in 3 runs.  If Kleiman can hold IUPUI scoreless in its 5th, game will be over.

IUPUI went down 1-2-3 in its 5th and game over.

Hoosiers move to 19-4 on the season winning both of today's games.  In the first game Kleiman and Montgomery combined for a 4-hit shutout in a 9-0 run shortened win over Oakland.  Hoosiers pounded out 14 hits as 6 different Hoosier batters had 2 hits apiece.  Cooper 4-RBI and Cooper had 2.

In the second game Hoosiers defeated Dayton 8-1 as Copeland, Kleiman and Johnson limited Dayton to 3 hits.  We only had 6 hits but Copeland and Parker each had 2-run HRs.

Wednesday night we're in Boca Raton, FL to play FAU and then on to Gainesville, FL where we'll play 2 against Mercer and 2 against Florida.  Won't play again until the 22nd when B1G season starts on the road at Penn State.

This weekend is big for the resume. Big Ten stinks this year in Softball and IU could easily win it.

Michigan has fallen apart since their legendary coach Carol Hutchins retired. Northwestern has started slow, but expect them to come on. Outside of these two who have been power houses for years, there is not much quality in the conference usually and don't expect any different in 2024. The Hoosiers and Wildcats series in Evanston at the very end of the season could well decide who wins the league.

We spotted Mercer 3 runs in the 2nd but only 1 more the rest of the way and we won 8-4.  Copeland started and had a rough start giving up 4 hits and 3 runs before Kleiman relieved her in the 2nd.  Kleiman went 4.1 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits and got credit for the win.  Johnson pitched the 7th and final inning.  We got our bats going in the 3rd scoring 3 runs and scored 3 more in the 6th banging out 12 hits on the day.  Parker with a solo HR and Cooper with a 3-run HR. Minnick and VanBrandt each had 3 hits.  Minnick and Parker each 3-RBI.
