Winning streak ends as PUke wins the second game 6-5.  We used Kleiman, Copeland & Montgomery and each allowed 2 runs.  We managed 7 hits with Parker our only batter to get 2 and she also had 3 RBI.  Stone had our other 2.

We still need .5 points to outright win the Governor's Cup but having secured at least a tie, the cup will remain in our possession for another year.

Upcoming weekend we're on the road at Iowa (16-18) (4-8) who are on a 6-game losing streak.

A masterful pitching performance from Copeland throwing a 2-hit shutout and Hoosiers open the weekend with an 8-0 win.  She walked 2; struck out 2.  14 of Iowa's 21 outs from infield ground outs.  We had 12 hits led by Stone with 3 and Minnick, VanBrandt and Andrews each with 2.  Minnick had 3 RBI and Stone had 2.  Tonight was our 7th conference win in a row and evens our conference record at 7-7.

Great outing for Kleiman throwing a 3-hitter and Hoosiers take a 9-1 win, our 8th conference win in a row.  We had 9 hits led by Bassett with 3 and Minnick and Cooper 2 each.  6 different batters had 1-RBI; Iowa errors led to our other 3 runs.  Go for the weekend sweep tomorrow at 2:30 ET and televised on BTN.

Strange start to today's game.  We're in the 1st inning with a 2-0 lead; bases loaded with 1 out and we've yet to get our first hit.  Hawkeye starting pitcher walked 4 and hit a batter and has been relieved of any further indignity.  Unfortunately for us we can't do any more damage and leave the bases loaded.

A weekend sweep for the women and their 9th conference win in a row taking today's game 7-3.  The bottom half of the 1st was nearly as strange as the top half.  Copeland started on the mound and gave up a single, a double, another single and just like that the game was tied 2-2 with nobody out.  She pitched the 2nd inning and then turned the mound over to Kleiman  Sophie pitched the last 5 innings giving up just 3 hits and 1 run.  We had 8 hits led by Copeland, Parker & VanBrandt each with 2.  And oddly enough, each of them also had 2 RBI.  After today's win our season record is 34-13 and our conference record 10-7.

This coming Wednesday at 4:00 we play Butler on the road.  Next weekend we host Wisconsin (17-26) (6-11) and the on May 3-5 we're on the road at Northwestern (29-9) (15-2) for the conclusion of regular season play.

Women pick up a run-shortened 9-0 win over Butler.  Kleiman started and allowed 1-hit through 4 innings; Montgomey pitched the 5th and gave up Butler's only other hit in the game.  We had 10 hits with Copeland, Minnick & Benson each with 2.  Minnick and Parker each 3-RBI and Benson had 2.  Of our 10 hits, 5 were for extra bases.  We had 3 doubles, a 3-run HR from Minnick and a 3-run HR from Parker.  Our overall record is now 35-13.

Next weekend we host Wisconsin (17-26) (6-11) and the on May 3-5 we're on the road at Northwestern (29-9) (15-2) for the conclusion of regular season play.

Hoosiers take the weekend opener 6-5 in dramatic fashion scoring 2 in the bottom of the 7th.  With 1 out, VanBrandt doubled and Bassett drew a walk.  Andrews beat out a bunt to load the bases and Cooper drove in the tying and winning runs with a single to left center.  We had a total of 13 hits led by Copeland with 3 and Minnick, Andrews & Benson each with 2.  Cooper and Benson both had 2 RBI.

Copeland started but didn't have her normal stuff.  She lasted 4.2 innings but allowed 5 runs on 5 hits - 3 of them were HR and she also walked 4.  Montgomery finished up giving up just 2 hits and no runs.

The force wasn't with us today and we couldn't pull a rabbit out of the hat with a 7th inning comeback win and Wisky takes an 8-6 win.  Kleiman started and gave up a 1st inning run but the damage was done in the 4th when the Badgers scored 4 runs and added 2 more in the 6th off Montgomery.  All totaled we gave up 11 hits, 4 BB, 2 WP and 1 HBP.

We had 7 hits as VanBrandt had 3 and Cooper had 2.  Cooper had 3 RBI and Copeland 2.

Always rooting for my Hoosiers, BUT ... the daughter of a girl I went to elementary school, junior high and high school with -- have known her since I was 5 -- is Bucky's starting catcher.

So ... I hope she does well, but IU wins the series.

Really damaging weekend losing the series to a really bad Wisconsin team and nearly getting swept.

Not sure what happened, but this was not the team that has played all season and this likely took the team out of NCAA Contention baring a deep run in the Big Ten Tourney. IU lost their first six in league but that was to postseason teams. This was the first and only time outside of the non-conference loss to Gardner Webb, where they completely failed to perform in all areas vs. a struggling team.

It comes at the worst possible time though. Shonda Stanton is building a great program and this weekend shows the ascension it is not always a straight line up. This weekend the moment got to big for them and they crumbled under pressure. They'll learn for the future, but it might well cost them the NCAA Tournament for 2024.

Hoosiers lose the weekend opener 6-3.  After 4 innings we led 3-1 but NU scored 1 in the 5th and 4 in the 6th all off Copeland who pitched a complete game.  She gave up 8 hits and 3 BB but 2 of the NU hits were HR that drove in 4 runs.  We managed just 6 hits with Benson the only Hoosiers with at least 2 hits.  We'll try again tomorrow.

Nice bounce back 8-3 win on Saturday and per Pete DiPrimio that ended a 38-game home winning streak for Northwestern.   Kleiman started but only lasted into the 2nd inning.  She sustained some kind of injury but I'm on the road this weekend and all I saw was this tweet from @IndianaSoftball  -  Kleiman has exited the game in stable condition and is being transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.  My guess is she was hit by a line drive.  Cooper came on and pitched to 1 batter and replaced by Copeland.  Brianna finished out the game and only gave up 2 runs on 3 hits; walked 1.  We had 7 hits the big one being a grand slam in the 2nd by Geijer

Saw the play on TV. Kleinman was hit on the neck by a line drive and was taken off on a stretcher.
