Perea not with Team due to VISA issues

Recommended Posts
This is unfair and incorrect. Dalton has NO personal impact on the IUBB team, unlike things in his own life. In his own life, he can adjust, compensate, communicate, and all sorts of other tools to solve problems. He likely doesn't "blame others" in his own life, he just fixes problems as any mature adult would do,

Alternatively, bad decisions have been made surrounding IUBB, by not only Crean, but others too, including the players personal problems. He is putting "blame" on those directly involved in those decisions, and not just Crean. The IU staff DESERVES a lot of BLAME for LAST season!

However, this is a NEW season, so Crean and company get another chance to prove themselves.

And boy oh boy it looks like Troy Williams is sure going to help in that regard.
My intention was not to personally attack Dalton at all. Just saying there is a lot of blame problems on others first ask questions later going on. I don't blame the entire crappy season of last year directly on the coaching staff either. There were obviously a lot of extra curricular activities going on with the players throughout the season. The coaching staff is not there to babysit young men, just to help to guide them. Hopefully a lot of that will be gone for the season and I have the greatest hopes for Hoosier basketball for this season. GO HOOSIERS.

Doesn't it get old to ***** and grip all of the time about something that we have no control over? Do you blame others for everything that goes wrong in your own life as well? This season will be fine. Just ***** a little less you'll probably feel better.

Exactly, we have no control.  So why can't we just be honest with how we feel?  We have no power one way or the other, we are just fans on a message board, so we should at least be honest with ourselves.  Don't feel the program is in good shape?  Say so.  Feel Crean is a wildly mediocre coach?  Say it, his resume certainly backs it up since he's been coaching the better part of 20 years and has won his conference a grand total of twice.

You said it yourself, we have no control and you're right.  We don't.  So all this "just be positive" or "stop complaining, support the team" (thankfully we haven't seen that one in a little while) crap is just complaining about people complaining.

The team just won? Can you lay off them and just show a little support?

So you wouldn't be whining if we lost like it was a Syracuse game? I find that hard to believe.

No, I'd have the same reaction I do now.  It was a friggin' exhibition, nothing more.  We can't draw anything from a win the same as we can't draw anything from a loss.

Fair enough.

Our society wants to b*tch and blame. Pretty much that's it.   You'd think Eli Holman wasn't cleared for the Bahamas trip or something.

Just because we do our part, doesn't mean the process finishes by the hard deadline. No need for "us" to be informed, until it's a final issue. We didn't need to know 3 months ago, that Hanner was having issues getting approved to enter Canada. 2 Hours before tip-off was plenty of notice

Why is it so valuable an experience for HP, to elicit all this moaning by people? Sure there's some definite value in the trip, but many people point to the real value in being the 10 practices beforehand, which HP attended.

He either took a huge step forward and is going to help this year or he didn't.

If he didn't it's not going to materialize during this trip and if he did it's not going to fail to happen without this trip.

He's definitely not "the guy who needed this most"  he's the guy many of us needed to see do well, most, in order to feel good about the coming season. In my opinion, It's more of an 'us' loss than an "HP" loss.

For what it's worth I didn't take it personal. Lol That always gets thrown out by everyone(myself included) but life and iubb aren't one and the same.

I went on a very similar trip entering my senior year of college. We did 5 days in Toronto and 5 days in Montreal. We had to have everything (papers, etc.) to our coaches ahead of time. We had a kid on our team from Serbia, and it was down to the wire on whether he was going to be able to go. He ultimately did come, but I can tell you there was nothing more our coaches could have done, it was really out of their hands.

I have a story somewhat similar to yours, but it's not basketball related.  I went on a missions trip a number of years ago.  One of the guys scheduled to go with us was from El Salvador.  He and the group did everything necessary for him to go months in advance of the trip.  We did not find out until two days prior to the trip that he was going to be allowed to go. That was after he was told he would not be allowed to go.  It was so frustrating because everyone on our end had done what needed to be done, but we had to wait on decisions to be made that we had no control over.

I can't believe people really think this matters. Hanner could play every minute of the next four games and it wouldn't make a difference in the BIG TEN.

If you really think the basketball staff didn't do everything they could possibly do to prepare all of the details for this trip, then you don't know the coach. He's way past over-involved.

For what it is worth...

I work at a private practice as a legal intern. One of the defense attorneys just had a case come across his desk about a person who got a DUI and wanted to go to Canada. Canada is very strict about that apparently and the only way they will honor visa is if you can some how get a waiver. The attorney was shocked by this and he is like 100. SO apparently there is a VISA block for individuals that get DUIs that might be uncommon to most.

I need some positive news about his game!   the only question mark left so far, and a big one at that

Superman practices.

Yup...Basketball4IU has posted that Hanner has been very much transformed in a great way during early practices.
