prodigal hoosier Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 At cnnsi.com. if anything I'm more worried he will get poached if we have a good year or two. http://www.si.com/college-football/2014/08/05/coaches-hot-seat-will-muschamp-brady-hoke HoosierReb01 and IU Hoosier41 2 Quote
Kilroy Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 yeah, that's just stupid. With the recruiting classes he is having and with the very low expectations of IU football fans, he's got at least 5 years of straight losing before he's out. HoosierReb01, CampHoosier and Hovadipo 3 Quote
BlueDevil Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Yes he's in the hot seat as in driving this bus to a bowl game he's on fire right now recruiting and turning the program around. HoosierReb01 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I think it was all an error. They meant "Tom Crean" not "Kevin Wilson" Dalton26 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
barrettballer Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I partially agree with the "idiot". Wilson had all the tools in place for us to get to a bowl game but he as a coach made some major mistakes. For example the Minnesota game poor first half, we come all the back and have a shot at the win within the 10 yard line with a Stephen Houston that had rushed for over 200 yards that game. But we ran a swing pass behind the line of scrimmage and lose the game. Kevin Wilson needs to drastically improve on his clock management and his focus on defense. He is a great recruiter however and an offensive of specialist who could have a bright future here or he could fumble like he did last year and be gone in two or three years. If the defense was worth a crap last season we very well could've gone to a bowl. LIHoosier and mamasa 2 Quote
LIHoosier Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Relax, its just an outside chance. Frank Beamer isn't getting fired from VT, Wilson likely won't be gone from IU. Quote
323SGrant Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I believe that Wilson is doing a good job and I would keep him, although they should have made it to a Bowl game last season. That schedule was made for a Bowl game last year. I felt bad for Latimer, Hughes and the other players that have moved on. That defense was atrocious. However, his recruiting has picked up and I'm hopeful for this season. 8bucks 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 No way Wilson gets fired this year. Our athletic department is already hamstrung by one horrible contract; we're not buying out another. Quote
barrettballer Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Wilson is likely gone after this year if we make a bowl game because his offense is so good. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersu Quote

prodigal hoosier Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Pass the mustard please, crow is too dry for me to eat without something to put on it. Before BG got a new head coach I had this gamed penned as a loss. That changed when we fired Mallory, they lost their head guy and especially after their QB went down. Apparently none of those things mattered as much as I thought. I suspect the bye hurt a little as we had two weeks to keep focused which can be hard to do. It really looks like we need to open the wallet and pay for some actual coaches though. $300k for coordinators isnt getting it done in a power 5 conference. This is from last year and it shows we are starting to pay decent but look at the total staff budget column. We can't find another $850k to move us up above the average for the good schools? We probably spend close to that in fireworks for home games. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/salaries/ncaaf/assistant/ This has the feel of another rough season based on yesterday.... 8bucks 1 Quote
jmsgws Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 After yesterday Coach Wilson's seat is getting a little warm at least to me! Quote
bronkonagurski Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 CKW is building a solid foundation here. Since the thread has been bumped...the foundation obviously still has some cracks and flaws but if CKW was gone tomorrow, I still think he has set up the program in a better place for the next guy. And I don't see a change being made barring a truly disastrous remainder of the season. This team can still win 5-6 games. I do think another non-bowl season can and should put the heat on his seat heading into Year 5. Some would argue the heat should already be there. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Only Fred Glass truly knows. I'm pretty frustrated with the BG game but I'm not in FIRE EVERYONE mode. Not now, not yet. Trying to stay somewhat rational while also being critical. ou812dude Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 2 games in, and yeah...it's frustrating to lose to Bowling effing Green... but... the beauty of it is...is that they still can pull some quality wins and improve on last year... count me in as a believer...or a hopeless romantic... iubirdman Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Wison is a very good X and O guy offensively, but not a fan of his play calling (I know blame the OC, but he has to have the ability to overrule the calls) or the teams clock management he has shown. I told one of my friends that Wilson's play calling, sub patterns, or clock management would cost us 2 games this year and we just saw 1 of them. If you have a bubble bowl team, and your coach costs your team 2 games and you do not get a bid, I can see why the seat may be a little warm. You said Mallory was the other teams best weapon last year, but who brought him here??? Quote

I've said I think Wilson might be too offensive minded. Quote
Naturalhoosier Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 He might not be on the hot seat per se, but it's getting a little warmer. My bet is that if sustains a 5 win season this year he's fine but next year he'll find his nuts in the vice. Sent from the can using BtownBanners nancy keener and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
