mdn82 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I know every recruit sounds great on the surface but man we are in severe need of bigs. Would love to have a 4 year caliber player with top 100 skill to complement and grow with Morgan. Hutch89 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 FWIW, Juwan Morgan is following OG on twitter. maybe they knew each other from living near one another in MO, or maybe an IU connection? LazOffTheBench, rebelhoosier848891, Napleshoosier and 4 others 7 Quote
MemphisHoosier Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I know there are mixed opinions on 247's Crystal Ball, but Jerry Meyer just tagged IU for OG. Of the voters on 247, he is the one that I believe holds the most water. rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 All valid concerns----the few sources I still have near the program say IU thinks Holt still has a couple of inches to grow----it would help if he gets up to 6'9"! Then we could list him at 6'11" with the IU height bounce! Walking Boot of Doom, Hutch89, CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 2 others 5 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I've always been an OG fan-----love the Vic potential---but even I admit I would prioritize him after Bryant and Shake. I just suspect the staff knows something on Shake by now. Hope it's something good! Quote
Hutch89 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 If we had Shake in 2015 and Thon the next year, we would have a MASSIVE line-up come 2016. Kepner 1 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 And just like that, Drew Messmer has predicted IU for OG. The guy is literally Jerry Meyer's shadow. Zero credibility as far as I'm concerned. He's a scavenger on the CB. Napleshoosier, Alabaster Thunder, ccgeneral and 2 others 5 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I don't think he is a traditional 5. But then again I think the modern game has evolved passed the 1 through 5 position game. Plus not too many teams field a traditional lineup or a traditional big man anymore. BGleas 1 Quote
8bucks Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Remember Matt Nover? He was 6'8" and played center for IU. He even had to guard Shaquille in the tourney (we won). Nover was not a prototypical center and was not really much better than Hanner except he could stay away from fouls. It helped that he had Henderson at PF but as a center Nover helped get us to a FF. We can be good without a stud Center if our shooters and scorers can score. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Kepner, LazOffTheBench and LockdownD 3 Quote

Not sure that's the game I would cite to prove a point where an undersized center could help us win. If Shaq had a team half as good as we had that season we may lose. Plus the games are called way different now vs then. They don't allow you to body up very much and you can't grab at all. That is why someone as athletically gifted as Hanner gets into foul trouble regularly. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app MikeRoberts and XLevel 2 Quote
CottageGrove Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Someone help me out with OG. He's got some high major interest, and I see a lot of people talking pretty glowingly about him. I don't know anything about the kid, other than that he's an unranked 3-star. Has he not been seen by scouts? Didn't play AAU? Or is there some other reason he he's been under the radar with Rivals, Scout, 247, etc? I don't mean to question the kid or our recruitment of him. I just honestly don't know why he's ranked where he is (or isn't) given what else I've read about him, which is admittedly not much. Quote
