6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers

Sounds like he has 2 years left though. For 1 year, who cares. Sure, whatever. For 2 years.....NO NO NO... Please god No.

Matt Roth situation again but NZ isn't anywhere near as good as Roth and Roth wasn't granted final year so......

So would we be getting him 1 year or 2? 1 year, sure why no? 2 years I don't get adding him unless he'd be leaving after one year, which would just be weird

I may be reading stuff wrong, but I was under the impression this guy has two years left. I don't know if he plans to use both years though.

I'm not sure but with the new IU policy about student athletes , if he takes a scholly this year could he still get the education free the next based on the student/athlete bill of rights?  I think biggest hurdle here is getting accepted into Kelley's business school.

We don't even know if the bill of rights is going to happen because everybody is waiting on the word from judge from the O'Bannon trial.

It's official, two years of eligibility. Nick Zeisloft has joined the program. http://m.iuhoosiers.com/m/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/070714aaa.html Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

@DustinDopirak: Zeisloft hit 60 3-pointers last season. Yogi Ferrell is the only player on IU's roster who hit more than that. @EvanHoopfer: #iubb will add sharpshooter Nick Zeisloft. He's a 6-foot-4 graduate student who shot 42% from three & 90% from the line last year. Hopefully he can help take some of the pressure to make threes off of our young shooters Edit: Hoopfer incorrectly reported 42% from three. Zeisloft shot 35.5%. Appreciate the information. My hope is that with a plethora of shooting guards, this addition does not hinder our chances of getting Jalen Coleman. Many of these top players like to select a school where they can play right away. Nick seems like a good shooter and student.

That Hoopfer needs to double check his stats.

Ziesloft shot 35% from 3 last year, not 42%.  He made 60 out of 169.

Would average to around 38%, decent but not particularly good.  I wouldn't classify that as a "shooter" though.

2 years of eligibility is a killer. Wow. Maybe a Matt Roth agreement on the table here?

Oh well, I've been conditioned to lower my expectations from my alma mater over the last year.

Granted, a quality kid and great student but..............

This sounds like an Austin Etherington type player to me. Better shooter, less athletic. I don't get it to be honest.

Hopefully with him being a bench player, and his minutes decreased, he won't have to rely so much on getting the 3-point shot up in tough situations just to keep his team in the game.

By getting fewer minutes, i'm optimistic that his 3-point % would jump back up to the mid-40% range because he will be able to take the shots he knows he can make and has more time to get it out of his hands.

Like the guy though! 90% from the line is awesome, and if he can knock down those 3 points, he could be a great late-game backup in a close match.

Big thing to consider isn't nexessarily what he provides on the court in games. He might be a KEY locker room & practice guy that Crean needs for this young relatively immature team.

I would guess he'll provide some big shots for us this year regardless with out drivers we have. He'll get some wide open looks.

So I see a lot of open ended questions about whether or not he will take up a scholarship spot the next season (2015-16).
seems to me that he would be obliged to hold it until he is done at IU unless something were to happen that we can't foresee.

What does everyone think?
Under what circumstances will he not get the scholly for the 2015 season?
