3 pointer for next season starting to look good. That Twitter pic shows that Troy had just finished knocking down 100 out of 136 from 3 pt territory at Cook Hall.

Don't y'all go telling me that it's different during games. Of that I am aware. The takeaway is that Troy is recognizing his weaknesses and working hard at them, and that is a very good thing.
Glad he's putting in the work. He has so much potential I'm excited to see him reap the rewards.

I'm not sure that troy needs to focus that much on the 3 ball. I think what he is doing is just about right as he is probably also working on his jumper from inside the arc along with some post moves. I would agree with 500 shots overall though.

Not trying to be negative?

500 made threes a day would be a little extreme, even for a worker like Hulls or VO.

Those hundred made threes a day I am assuming are not the only work he's doing.

Agreed. I knew a kid in high school who made about 600 in one day and had blood running down his arm by the end of it.

I'm not trying to be negative, and I wouldn't call it extreme. I played D2 basketball and we were supposed to make 300 a day and our coach had a chart on his door we had to come sign each day, I'm assuming a guy with somewhat legit NBA potential would be able to do a little more.

I hear that. If his 100 3's are part of a much larger workout, where he's working on his mid-range game too, making say a few hundred mid-range shots and a hundred or so free throws, then that's working out.

All I'm saying is that if improving your 3-pt shot is your focus in an offseason, which is what I take from his post, then making 500 a week is nice, but isn't really working that hard at it. It's like the baseline, not really really putting in a ton of work.

I think it's crazy that people are complaining about him making 100 threes a day. His game isn't going to change much next year from his slashing and driving ability, but he'll always have the three ball as a second option

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Not trying to turn this into the "pile on BGleas" thread.

I am curious; take a guy like, say, VO, that was a big time athlete who drastically improved his comfort and efficiency with the three ball. How many a day did he put up in the summer leading into his junior year?

I like to call it mediocre.

No worries, I can take it :)

The Duke poster (sorry can't remember your handle off the top of my head) brought up a good point, let's discuss this as total jumpers, not just 3's. If you're really working on your perimeter game, you should be making at minimum 300 a day. I'd say closer to 400-500.

Say 100 3's, 100 spot up mid-range jumpers and 100 mid-range jumpers on the move, you could do 100 off the dribble too. Then end it with 100 free throws. That's a legit workout. Maybe you don't do all of them each day, but mix it up different days to focus on different things.
