That ending was fitting though. Catcher gets caught arguing whether it was a foul ball giving up the go ahead run and then gets the walk off in the 10th. [emoji849] Hope Steele is OK.

UPDATE: The DBacks scored 14 runs in the 3rd, and batted around TWICE in the same inning - sending 18 batters to the plate.

The guy who got cut from the O's roster to make room for Jackson Holliday -- the top MLB prospect -- wished him well.

Not sure where to post this:  Twitter link Edey "throwing" first pitch at Cubs game. 

Sure there have been some awful ceremonial first pitches over the years, but this is especially egregious. What punishment would be approriate for him? I think a series of electric shocks or good caning (Singapore style) is in order. 

 

It's not 50 cent bad, but still

RIP to the greatest living ballplayer -- the "Say Hey Kid."

I'm not quite old enough to have seen him play in his prime -- do recall a couple years as a Met, though.

So, now the question: Who becomes the greatest living ballplayer. Sorry -- I cannot go with Bonds or A-Rod. Some throw Sandy Koufax into the mix, along with Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux and  Randy Johnson. But a pitcher? Not sure about that. 

Maybe Griffey? Pujols? Bench? Schmidt? It's a tough call because now that Willie is gone, you have to go more modern, and unfortunately, that includes the Steroids Era. Bonds would be a slam dunk had his body and head not exploded over the final years. He was good enough to not have to juice. But ours is not to reason why ...

Nolan Ryan is still alive too. Best living, I'd say it's probably between him and Maddux.
