LamarCheeks Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Found this somewhat amusing. Druw Jones, the high school son of Andruw Jones and a big-league prospect, gets "Overrated" chants at his game recently. Best response ever ... He has committed to Vanderbilt but will be drafted (probably in the top 5), so likely won't play one second of college baseball. Quote

I'm not "old", but seeing the sons of athletes I watched growing up become pros sure makes me feel it. The last few years have been weird. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Kind of a cool moment. A Cubs rookie pitcher, Ethan Roberts, finds out he made the Opening Day roster. Later, he said this is how it went down. He had taken a grounder off the hand and after he came off the field between innings, Dave Ross -- the manager -- asked how his hand was. Roberts: My hand's fine. Ross: Can you shake my hand? Roberts: Yes (shakes Ross' hand). See -- it's fine. Ross: Good, because you made the team. thebigweave, Stuhoo, LIHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

mamasa Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 I don't watch nearly as much baseball as I used to, but I've seen 2 grand slams so far this season. Pretty interesting in that, prior to this, I don't think I've ever seen one! Quote

LamarCheeks Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Braves were beating the crap out of the Nats last night, so Washington used a position player to pitch late. He plunked Atlanta catcher Travis d'Arnaud. It was pretty brutal. Please pray for Travis! LIHoosier, Class of '66 Old Fart and HoosierAloha 3 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Craziness in Anaheim tonight ... Reid Detmers, making his 11th major-league start, throws a no-hitter ... And what's kinda funny ... The Angels were blowing the Rays out, so Tampa Bay used a position pitcher to pitch. Just for the hell of it, Anthony Rendon -- a right-handed hitter -- bats left-handed for the first time in his career. What'd he do? Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 First major-league AB. BOMB! He's on pace to hit roughly 8,374 career homers. I think that would be a record thebigweave, Leo and Hovadipo 2 1 Quote
