Who would you hire to replace CTC?

Yep I was VERY impressed. He's gonna get a big job soon somewhere.

If Crean is to go I think IU should long up the money to get Sean Miller. His contract with Arizona is up in 2017-2018. He is the best option. I don't know quite why everyone is in love with Brad Stevens. I know he did very well at Butler, but his Butler teams got away with defensive muggings that won't fly with the new rules emphasis and I don't know if his style will be conducive to elite recruits. Will he be able to sell and recruit as good as Crean? Big question mark. We know Miller can do it all.

Ok, I have not read any responses on this topic but I have three guys that may not be on the radar right now, mainly because I don't believe we need to be looking for a new coach right now, but maybe 2-3 years down the road.

Tommy Amaker at Harvard, I understand that he was terrible at Michigan, but he has been around alot of great programs in college basketball, asst. at Duke and head coach at Seton Hall, Michigan, and Harvard. He has lead Harvard to its only 2 NCAA tournament wins in school history this year and last year. He is winning recruiting battles for solid players against good programs in the northeast, and he was a point guard in college.

Archie Miller at Dayton. I watched, as I'm sure many of you did, their game against OSU in the 1st (2nd) round of the tourney. Dayton looked like the better team throughout that whole game. I don't really like his older brother Sean (coach at Zona), but I think he is a great coach. Archie has been an assistant at Western Kentucky, NC State, Arizona St, OSU, and Arizona. He has literally coached all over the country in a span of 10 years.

Jim Crews at Saint Louis. Ok, I don't know if there is a reason why his name has not been mentioned more often in this aspect, but if there is a reason please let me know. I think he is a great coach and going from St. Louis to his alma mater has to be a dream come true.

I literally just threw these 3 names out there, I think all 3 are viable options, even though I still do not believe we need a new coach.

Yea, we definitely don't need a new coach for at least another 2 years IMO. I, in a way, regret making this thread but if nothing else its a fun hypothetical and could be funny to look back on in a few years when/if we are looking for a new coach.

From now on, no use beating a dead horse. The offseason=optimism time for me!

Liked the idea of Manhattan's coach when he was first mentioned here. Still do. Still like the idea of someone like Dane Fife too. Someone with a defensive reputation

I'm sorry but if Dane Fife became the coach of IU, I would be very upset. The few encounters I have had with him have not been good. I perceive him as a sleeze ball who, unfortunately, is probably going to benefit greatly from being on Izzo's staff. Of all the former players, Fife would be my last pick for a head coach. Heck, give me 200 lb Coverdale before him.

I really like Shaka Smart. Personally, I don't think his defense is a gimmick. Rick Pitino has been doing it for years. Being the only team who would do it regularly in a conference could do some serious damage.

Whenever IU does pick a new coach, just please let it not be from the list of "Ooh, a smaller school that had two good games in the ncaa tournament" coaches...come on....

True. I would want somebody with an established history of success, not just a guy who suddenly "flashed" hot in a particular tournament.

Wonder how many have jumped off the Miles train.... He obviously can't go anywhere in the big dance. :D
I didn't watch all of the game, but over half the foul calls I saw would not have been called in the B1G.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I must say I am incredibly disappointed in Crean. This was a very poor effort this year. I think 2014/2015 is when he either goes big or leaves town. We can't let this become another Mike Davis situation. He recruits well but doesn't seem to be much of a game coach. It is hard to watch the tournament knowing that IU is not among the top 100 teams in the nation. This can't happen again.
