Iowa @ IU Post Game Thread

Really good win for the team. Tom Crean and his players, especially Sheehey and Robinson, outdid the opponents and came away with the win.

Vonleh and Yogi were essentially non-factors and the second half didn't start amazing, but the team battled throughout and played to win. Very proud of everyone tonight.

Hopefully the team closes out the year strong, starting with a win over Ohio State this weekend.
I look back over our schedule and get depressed at some of the games we let slip away... This is a tourney team. Damn shame I tell ya!
UConn
Notre Dame
Illinois
Northwestern
Nebraska
Minnesota
Penn State

Maybe even Wiscy Tuesday and the game at east Lansing.

I'm not saying we should be 25-3 right now, but we definitely had the opportunity to be better than 16-12!

Tonight definitely showed that when it clicks for our young guys/the bench, we can't be held back, because more than likely at least one of our starters will have a good game too.

Those passes concerned me big time. I don't know why teams don't pressure us all game. VCU would eat us apart this year!

Solid minutes from Jeremy too. His stat line isn't the nicest to look at, partially due to some poor shot selection late in the second half. But his defense, low post defense in particular, was real good. His confidence was way up to, which is something we have been waiting on

Coach brought up something last night that I hadn't really thought that much about concerning Will. He really did lose all his buddies this year. Then was thrust into a much more demanding role to top it off. 41's post gave an indication of how close those guys were.  You can say shrug it off but these kids aren't robots. People have to adapt to changes and he's had a bunch this year. It was really good to see him have such a good game last night. He's been on a roller coaster at IU. Hope he gets to finish out on top again.

This is the most significant reason we have struggled this year, imho. Last season I'm sure Hulls would know where Will would be on the court with his eyes closed. We look like a horrible passing team because the team is thinking too much and not just making decisions based on playing experience.

You could see Stan Rob get comfortable knowing that Sheehey would be slashing on his drives. I can't wait until Williams picks that up and we have some shooters on the perimeter with Vonleh cleaning up around the rim.

It was a nice win and good to see Sheehey put the team on his back.  I have been very critical of his play this year but there was very little to be critical about last night.  Will this team be able to build off this win and finish strong or will they resort to their customary practice this year of being wildly consistent.  I thought that the Wisky win a few weeks ago was going to be the catalyst for a turn around but they followed it up by losing to Northwestern.  Playing Ohio St. is going to be completely different than playing Iowa.  This game will be played in the 50s and 60s and is going to be a grind.  Let's see if they can put together another good effort and put another "W" on the board....
