There is a lot of noise that people with actual power at Clemson are getting tired of Dabo. Stories seem to check out with Dabo being stuck in the past and unwilling to adapt skhoosier2 1 Quote

HoosierReb01 Posted Saturday at 01:17 PM Posted Saturday at 01:17 PM #DrenchGang is a viral social media and sports fan movement that originated with the Indiana University football team's defensive backs. Indiana Public Media The slang term was coined by IU defensive backs (such as Amare Ferrell) to describe lockdown pass defense. In their terminology, because a receiver is completely "covered," they are instead considered "drenched." Indiana Public Media+ 1 What started as a locker room term quickly exploded into a massive online trend and viral hashtag: The Viral Wave: It took over social media (briefly trending globally on X), characterized by fans and "burner accounts" adopting purple-tinted profile pictures, using purple diamond emojis (\U+1F9DF\U+1F9DF\U+1F9DF), and sharing humorous posts about being "drenched". Indiana Public Media Local & Business Adoption: The movement quickly bled into the Bloomington community, with local businesses like Upland Brewing Company and Homefield IU joining in on the joke with custom merchandise concepts and themed posts leading up to Indiana's football games. Indiana Public Media (Note: While the phrase "Drench Gang" also exists independently as street/music culture terms or within online roleplay communities, the massive trending phenomenon associated with the hashtag is tied directly to the Indiana Hoosiers football secondary.) Indiana Public Media I had to look it up, so now you don't. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Lol The turn against McAfee is so odd, especially from Indiana fans. I guess it probably becomes more political like many things nowadays. But the guy has been great to Indiana University. Great to college football. Much more entertaining than the other speaking heads. The guy was getting death threats. It’s hard to put yourself in the shoes of someone to know the credibility of the crazy fan, but particularly with events that have unfolded, it’s understandable to be a bit jittery about it. It, to my knowledge has only happened at 1 school. Not like he’s crying this every place he goes. HinnyHoosier, Napleshoosier and HoosierReb01 3 Quote

People get death threats on social media all the time these days... comes with the territory. He brought up a totally unrelated tragic event to try and justify why he was upset, which comes off as disrespectful to me. Rest assured has nothing to do with politics, much as he may try to paint it that way because he just can't fathom everyone not being a fan of his. Pagoda Posted Saturday at 02:25 PM Posted Saturday at 02:25 PM IU fans are still vastly pro McAfee. And they should be. I struggle with the death threats thing in general for people in sports because they’re basically never serious. Anyone can DM or email or post a sentence saying that. Almost all high exposure athletes and sports media people get them, and they’re disgusting and stupid and should result in charges, but they aren’t serious. Maybe there was something credible at Utah. If there was though, he wouldn’t have went on stage. It was all very strange, he seemed surprisingly thin skinned for a guy who knows how the media game works. I dunno. He’s not my favorite but he’s on our side which is great. That’s kinda how I feel about Dave Portnoy in that he’s a rich buffoon. He’s done a bunch of stupid stuff, but I’ll always respect someone’s right to safety and right to an opinion. McAfee is a talented entertainer. People take things too seriously. If he spouted this at every University he’s attended it would be one thing but this was a one off. Something rubbed him wrong and he expressed that. It’s an odd swoon to me that people hate him so much, and I can’t see any reason for it. So what, he’s cocky? He takes his shirt off? I don’t get it. He’s doing some of the WWE Schtick stuff but I don’t understand how that turns into hatred. Edited Saturday at 02:30 PM by WayneFleekHoosier Napleshoosier, HoosierReb01 and Home Jersey 3 Quote

Just not a fan of either and seriously doubt they face any actual threat during game day or big noon (which thankfully Portnoy is no longer on). Of course everyone should be safe regardless of how liked they are. He's just very cringe to me but I am glad that he supports IU with his platform so I typically don't go out of my way to crap on him... he just made it very easy with the whole Utah students video thing. It wasn't hateful at all. Anywho, hopefully McAfee and crew watch a big IU win this afternoon. Jeff Flabjohns and AZ Hoosier 2 Quote
