I agree about Fischer but his departure doesn’t explain guys whiffing on tackles.

Maybe college football teams should take a note from their basketball brethren and have a scrimmage against another school in mid August so they both can get the rust off.

North Texas, Howard, Indiana State….

One could argue we did schedule scrimmages to knock off the rust.

I'd like to think it's because the field is 150 degrees. When you think about having to be tough enough to win in the elements, you think rain, snow, wind or brutal cold. Usually not extreme heat.

I do traffic studies and I've had data where the roadway temp is in the 140s when the air temp is 95-100. And this 'turf' is largely plastic and rubber that just soaks in the heat.
