Gave the guy a corvette and he crashed it in year one. Let’s see what he can do with a Ferrari next season.

You are calling this roster a fast sports car?  This roster is your dad's  lime green El Camino.  The roster gets blocked at the rim when they make the right reads, and they literally missed open shots for 20 minutes in the second half.

Can we use next year’s NIL money to pay a buyout?  Then it’s money well spent

Who are you hiring that was willing to come when the job was open a year ago?

Well it cost what a new corvette would!

Did it really comparatively?  This does not seem like we are spending top 20 money to me.  I see a lot of teams that have a lot better rosters, and I know the rumors over what a lot of those kids are making.  Our highest is somewhere near 2 million.

DDv in the postgame when asked about this three game skid: “Illinois and Purdue were two tough games, two tough teams. Not a lot of people are going in there and winning”.

Loser talk. A lot of people are coming into Assembly Hall and winning, at least he’s accidentally calling our current team soft.

And thats list would be even smaller given most coaches now would be under the impression they have one year to make the tournament or they are fired.

i would not uproot my family with that type of uncertainty

People seem to be conflating not spending wisely with not spending. We’re paying a top 20 coaching salary. We’ve always had a top 20 recruiting and travel budget. We pay our assistants near the top of the range, and we just went and pulled a respected guy out of the NBA to be GM.

It would be really really odd if the one thing that really matters IU wasn’t at least in the top 20.

We are doing all that in football now, and we aren't spending in the top 20 there either in the most important part.

We are definitely paying top of market coaching staff salary in football. DeVries makes about the same as Golden. In the upper tier of salaries behind the current big guys like Self, Cal, Hurley, Izzo

We may not be top 20 in football NIL. According to most sources, IU is one of the bigger spenders in basketball NIL. Hard to quantify exactly where, but end of the day, it's a 8 figure payroll and not that many college basketball programs can afford that.

We can and should expect to be good in both sports. Money is not an excuse. More of it just always helps. IUBB needs a lot of help.

All the stories during the playoff run were about how much we were spending and how we bought the team, so much so Cig had to publicly rebut that in a presser.

But that’s exactly what I’m talking about, only in reverse for basketball. People see winning and assume big spending. For basketball people see losing and assume a lack of money. All the circumstantial evidence around the basketball program points to us being a big spender—most offseason articles had us comfortably in the top 10. In fact, it’s highly unlikely Devries himself would leave another P5 program for Indiana if he weren’t guaranteed a top level spend.

He’s simply doing a bad job.

To channel USPS…you’ve been subject to mediocrity for two decades. What’s another two years.

DDv gets two more chances to safely make the tourney one time. He’s not going anywhere for two more seasons at least
