Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Sunday evening doubleheader. Women face Maryland (14-1) (2-1) followed by IUBB hosting Washington at 8:00 also televised on BTN. Hate to admit it, but I have zero optimism for this game. MD averages 88 ppg on 49% FG and 34% on 3s. They hold opponents to 34% and 29% respectively. Their scoring margin is +33. They average 45 rpg with a +16 margin and will likely have little difficulty in maintaining that margin against us. Yarden Garzon is averaging 13.1 ppg and 4.4 rpg for the Terps. And not that MD needs any additional incentive, but they suffered their first loss of the season at Illinois yesterday 73-70. Thankfully we have IU football. Radio Quote
TTT Posted January 4 Posted January 4 What some call close games as in 20 point blowout losses mount….how depressed do the IU Ladies become?…..Counseling and therapy will probably be much needed as this season rolls along. Not competitive for a full game (thus far) at this level of (big ten) competition. sidenote: UCLA Ladies 80 USC Ladies 46 …if in a weird way that makes for a better feeling. ronzo4IU 1 Quote
ronzo4IU Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Any chance Zoe Jackson gets some playing time or is her redshirt set in stone? We be desperate in the post. Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Haven't watched the women's team all year. Have I missed anything special? Quote

From everything I've ever read, a redshirt has been the plan all along. Obviously, if we got hit with a number of injuries I suppose that could change but playing this season has never been in the cards. ronzo4IU and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote
TTT Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Though it would be a tall challenge for the freshman it would be nice to see a Makalusky win vs Garzon…. Maybe, more possible than it might appear at first glance. Lady Indiana Miss Basketball with a few games under her belt vs a seasoned experienced veteran. Quote

TTT Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Maryland Ladies 17.5 point favorite at 93.1% of winning. IU Ladies 6.9% chance of winning. As Dumb and Dumber would say….YES!!! THERE’S STILL A CHANCE!!!! Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 On the pre-game, Austin Render said Z is expected to get some minutes tonight although she won't be in the starting lineup. mamasa 1 Quote
TTT Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Regardless of win loss record….Goal number one for Z…..Can she stay on the floor without any injury setbacks for the rest of the season? Quote

Claxdj01 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 If there is a player more worthless than Makalusky getting burnt on the defensive end and bricking open threes on the offensive end please let me know NatHillIV 1 Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) Feels weird seeing Garazon in anything other than an IU jersey. Edited January 4 by OliviaPope40 Quote
NatHillIV Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Makalusky 3 for 6, (2 for 4 on 3s). Leads team in scoring today. Yeah, she's no good. Home Jersey, IUHoosierJoe, mamasa and 1 other 2 2 Quote
hoosierdogg Posted January 4 Posted January 4 It is strange to see Garzon playing for the Terps. I must admit I do not not closely follow the women' team, but certainly remember Yarden playing over the past few years. Why did she transfer to Maryland? Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 25-20 Maryland after 1Q. For those just popping in and taking a break from the football portal thread, Z played about 8 min. in the quarter after Noyan picked up 2 early fouls. Shay also with 2 as well as Z. IU with 8 fouls to just 2 for MD. 7 IU TOs to just 2 for MD and we're getting outrebounded as expected 11 to 6. We just can't make any improvement in those 3 weaknesses. Now 31-23 with 7:44 left in the 2nd Q HoosierHoopster 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Moyan and Z both with 3 fouls. 4:58 left in the 2nd. 31-28 MD Quote
