TTT Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Like a 1940s-1950s scoreboard. So do IU Ladies lose by 30 vs Florida State or is this a secret strategy vs Florida State on Sunday. UCONN lopsided win vs Florida State as would be expected. Florida State has a couple lopsided wins vs lesser competition. Transfer from Maryland/Allie Kubek Maryland transfer now playing for FSU. Maybe, T. Moren could tell Makalusky and team to have Makalusky to shoot the 3 ball 5 times in a row on offense. She has shot a couple. Surely she can hit one. Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 That felt like a high school game. Poor recruiting has caught up with us. Quote

So what if they compare her to any one- that’s not her problem. She’s a D1 scholarship player, to say she’s not good is simply laughable. She may not be a starter yet, give her time. Your response makes zero sense. Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I think we are headed to aa similar season as last year. Maybe slightly worse. Z and Shay are nice but not overwhelming enough to carry us. The rest of the team is playing like buns. We don’t really have shot making. Don’t really have playmaking. Maya and Caffey will be good someday. Not sure it’s soon enough. Might need Bargesser to press a bit more. Idk. Trying to see it. I trust Moren for the most part but some one has to step up at some point. Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I’m not in the sky is falling camp. That was a horrendously sloppy game, 28 TO’s. That’s not a norm it’s an outlier. Lots to clean up and part of that is the team learning to play fast. Yeah could be a year where 20 wins is the ceiling, but a 28 TO game is not the yardstick J34 and mamasa 2 Quote

mamasa Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 We’re not used to watching freshman and sophomores actually play meaningful minutes. It’s going to take time for them to settle down and learn their roles. This game was just awful. The same mistakes were made over and over. LamarCheeks, Todd41, HoosierHoopster and 1 other 4 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted November 12, 2025 Author Posted November 12, 2025 In last night's game, Shay recorded a career high in rebounds (10) and her first career double-double (13 & 10). Z also with a double-double of 13 & 10. HoosierHoopster and mamasa 2 Quote

TTT Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Makalusky…13 minutes; 2 offensive rebounds and one defensive rebound = 3 rebounds. Doesn’t sound like much but play her more minutes now = see if confidence will grow and shooting % will improve. It would give another taller player. Increase playing time to 26 minutes and from there after 4 or 5 games. Makalusky is going to end up as a starter somewhere down the road anyway. Quote
TheWatShot Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Here's the rest of the month: at FSU Butler at home at Florida Gulf Coast Gonzaga (neutral) Iowa State or Marquette (neutral) This could get ugly if we don't figure something out soon. Quote
Aaron Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Can I remind people this team actually lost these same games last year to Harvard and Butler and figured it out? While Marshall is not quite as strong as these two, Moren teams have a tendency to correct issues and get better as year goes on. A season similar to last year seems reasonable as a back end tournament team. If the team can beat some of the better competition upcoming they are actually ahead of last year with close wins rather than bad losses in games two and three. What we can say is Spreen, Kiaku (which doesn't surprise me) are not good enough to play at this level and this will once again be the tight eight person rotation that is Moren's signature with Shay, Caffey, Z, and Lenee as starters with Valentina or Makalusky playing off the bench with the other starting along with Phoenix and Odessa. Also we might see Faith from time to time. This is a typical Moren squad and once it matures and adds the elite recruits program should be fine.
