He was at the Illinois game -- his second visit to IU this year.  Grew up in Indy even though he's in Texas now.

The day after the Illinois game he announced he is committing October 4th.  I have no insider knowledge.  We are recruiting against the biggest/wealthiest programs here... but... we'll see.

Wow—that’s a hot post! That’s the number eight overall player and the number one defensive lineman in his class. And he’s about to pop for Indiana it would seem.

I can’t imagine a commitment from a 2027 being worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on at this point, whoever that commitment goes to. 

Keep Haines around (he and Brewster’s dad roomed together at Ball State back in the day) and see what happens next year.

What @Hovadipo said.  '26 verbal commitments in football aren't something you really want to bet your house on.  Haven't been for a long time and probably less reliable in today's NIL world.  A '27 verbal?!?!?!?!?

Ran across it on Xitter last night and couldn't find the tweet again, but it was a surprise to me too. Could be a big deal down the road if, for some reason, Haines doesn't move on.

Let’s see if Tech can keep Joey McGuire from Baylor (who he has a history with and coincidentally has more money than God) and Arkansas (his childhood favorite team, also rivals God in GDP) and re-assess next fall/winter. You never close the door on an early football commit.

Haines should be. I heard on an On3 podcast the other day that Haines and Brewster’s dad played together at Ball State (Robert Brewster).

Confirming what many suspected.  He’s not “solid” with TTU and we are recruiting him.
