eddy4iu Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 When was the last time an IU football game was sold out in July? The opener vs ODU plus the MSU, UCLA & Wisconsin games all show as "Not many left" on the single game ticket sales page. Pagoda 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 None I can remember, and this is against Illinois who won’t bring many fans. Good stuff. Our ticket sales to date on B1G games look good. Our home opener sales to date are a bit weak honestly with around 9,500 left. I thought that game would be better with people missing FB and wanting to see our new guys, but is what it is and we have a month to go… Quote
Stuhoo Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 We need to sell out the three crap non-conference games for multiple reasons: Recruits will be there It helps the team create extra energy needed to appropriately crush lesser teams Helps to build momentum, and MOST IMPORTANTLY If we don't Cig is gonna be pissed. moyemayhem and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

They'll have the largest road crowd at Memorial Stadium this year, imo. Quote

Only because our other opponents are going to bring a small number of fans because of some combination of their team being not good, their fans don’t travel well, and/or their school is very far away. For Illinois, by the time tickets went on sale to the general public there were less than 5K left. IU season ticket holders and donors were buying them up. After Nebraska and UM didn’t have much of a showing here last year, I’m not worried about any school showing up big except OSU. southsidehoosier, mamasa and Stuhoo 3 Quote

We had already sold 48K+ tickets to the Illinois game before tickets went on sale to the general public. After Nebraska and UM didn’t have much of a showing here last year, I’m not worried about any school showing up big except OSU. UM travels crazy-well and it isn't all that far away. I was at that game; their fans were basically undetectable in the noise. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Finally ... They'll still bring the house when theyre good. ILL is going to have a solid crowd, best team they've had in a while, proximity, and a healthy amount of Alums in Indy. I'm not worried they'll have some massive amount there, but.. it'll be noticeable, I assume. Nebraska fans are ANNOYING. "Blackshirt defense" yawn MemphisHoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Lebowski Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I cringe just to bring it up but did the 2021 Cincy game sell out this early? Also, I'm just going to say it, Illinois is not as good as everyone thinks. When you dive deep into what they 'accomplished' last year and what is returning, they have some major holes to fill. I could be wrong and eat crow. But looking at the numbers, on paper, our front 5 should be able to handle their DLs and they lost major production from their avg offense last year. Altmyer's 2024 numbers have some hidden production from elsewhere that are now rookies in the NFL or have transferred out. Sure they have a lot of returning starters but when you really look at who isn't on the roster from last year's team you start to see some really big question marks. Our run game will be the key to the game. Their game at Duke will tell us a lot as well. moyemayhem, RaceToTheTop and MemphisHoosier 3 Quote

I don't hold the same animosity toward Illinois football as I do their basketball, but boy am I tired of hearing about that group. They'll be a bowl team, congrats, but that has a flame out written all over it. If I hear that 2025 Illinois is 2024 Indiana one more time I'm going to lose it. southsidehoosier, MemphisHoosier, Pagoda and 2 others 5 Quote

Wasn't sure about when they sold out that game. Yeah, their schedule is 2024 IUFBesqe for sure, but that's it. Everything else isn't even remotely close to what was accomplished by our beloved Hoosiers last year. Pagoda 1 Quote
