Class of '66 Old Fart Posted September 19 Author Posted September 19 That's 2 of his 6 finalists off the table. Our odds are improving although Arizona looms large. Home Jersey, Napleshoosier and Demo 3 Quote
Hoosierfanyuh Posted September 19 Posted September 19 There’s a rumor circling that we offered a 6 figure bonus if he committed during his visit with us haha Pagoda and Home Jersey 1 1 Quote

How do you figure it "probably" moves us back? Since his IU visit, he cancelled Louisville and UNC visits. Maybe IU set a higher financial floor than they'd offer? Could've dropped them for reasons having nothing to do with IU, but with 2 of 6 finalists out, seems positive with us still standing. Arizona still the favorite by a long shot, probably... would be a great duo with Branham though. Stuhoo and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote

Then it’s not really a bonus anyway. Would just seem odd to not accept the deal then go back and commit for less money. I understand it’s all fluid in recruting and negotiating and likely if we are still in the game, he gets the “bonus” no matter when he commits. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Him accepting that bonus saves us recruiting resources and efforts, so an early commitment bonus has extra value to IU. Quote

No doubt. I love the idea of it. But him not taking it indicates our odds are lowered which was what I was trying to say initially. Home Jersey Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I don't think our odds are necessarily lowered because he didn't commit on the visit. Especially since 2 of the 6 finalists have had their visits cancelled since. It's just prudent business to take your visits. IMO even though he didn't bite, the bonus offer signals we're willing to up the ante. So, he can get all his visits, offers and compare... but if he wants to get Arizona (most likely) in a bidding war, he knows we may play ball. If we add him the 2027 class would be something to get excited about. Branham definitely is a great building block. Demo, Napleshoosier and HoosierHoopster 3 Quote
mike vannice Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Are we still recruiting Paul Osaruyi and Jeremy Jenkins or have we put all our eggs in the Darius Wabbington basket? Quote

MonteMarcaccini Posted Tuesday at 02:47 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:47 PM Saw the visit breakdown of his contenders from the other site. Yikes to what he said is our pitch which is essentially we will hand him the keys and he won’t be on campus long. Quote

It’s probably what he’s looking for and our only chance at pulling him away from home Quote
Hoosierfanyuh Posted Tuesday at 03:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:22 PM You’re exaggerating a bit. Summarized quote below “They see the world for me. The whole staff sees the world for me. They feel I will only be there for a season. Their goal is to get me to the NBA. They plan to put the ball in my hands to facilitate and score. They see the world for me.” Home Jersey and Demo 2 Quote

We are imo recruiting him to be the projected starter and in that case that’s the pitch and the goal for top rated players. Although, nowadays being a college star is a pretty great gig and he might want to stay longer. J34, Hoosierfanyuh, Napleshoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
