He used to tell a story that he was at a recruits house where the mother told him she didn't like the way he cussed.  So he told her that he cusses, but he doesn't drink or smoke, so how bad could he be?

Same. I always thought he was a teetotaler, but near the end when stories came out I feel like I heard a few about him being drunk or drinking
