#5 IUFB @ #2 Ohio State - 11/23/24 at Noon on FOX

Worst part about the loss is that it had all the ingredients at the start for IU to win this game: Stopped OSU on opening possession. Drove down, made it 7-0. Goal Line Stand. Huge Red Zone INT. Thought if it was 7-7 going into half you have to feel good. Dropped snap changed everything. Ohio State is obviously the much better team. I think OSU along with Oregon are the two best teams in college football. Screw the SEC...

I still love this team. I hate that the 2nd half was their worst football all year. Knew as soon as the PR TD happened the game was probably over. Still think this is a playoff team. I think they will be ranked 9th (10 seed) or 8th (9 seed) if Bama loses.

I knew it was over after the first drive of the second half. When the protection wasn’t fixed we were done no matter what. Honestly I felt we wouldn’t recover from that 3rd and 35 we gave up but the D hung tough. You can’t survive things like that on the road.

The good news is: I think every problem we had today was mental. Physically we competed. That bodes well for the playoffs, imo

Well whether we like it or not, winning margins are part of the criteria used by the CFP committee to seed teams, Ohio State could still lose a game and the margin of victory over the #5 ranked team will be beneficial to them. Doesn't really matter if Day is a D*ck or not, he's just trying to better his chances of winning a National Championship!

Respectfully, my original point wasn’t about whether scoring on the last drive by Day was beneficial for his team in the metrics. It was strictly a plea, for CCC and anyone in the IU program to recognize what a classless move it was to disrespect a fellow top-5 team like that, and remember it if/WHEN we start recruiting the guys to better matchup with a $20M dollar team of five stars. I hope, as the competitor I believe CCC to be, he won’t forget that. I can’t imagine a Nick Saban, etc. would take that and let it slide off his shoulder as something any top tier program would do given the same opportunity to take a knee and end a game against competition they consider respectable peers.

Cig said they had some communication issues due to the noise which explains some of the guys going to the wrong gaps to pock up blitzes.  He also thought OSU was able to time up some of the silent counts, thus being awfully quick off the ball.

Just an after the fact question.  How many starters does OSU have that are not 4-5 star recruits?  Just curious.

I have no idea because of transfers etc but do know that in their last three classes, according to Scout, they signed a total of 58 four and five stars with only 5 three star guys. Unreal depth. Not to mention that nine of their 22 starters are slated to be first or second rounders in the next NFL draft (2025) with others expected to be first or second rounders in the 2026 draft.

The “on paper” talent discrepancy between OSU and 15 of the other BT teams is enormous.

The game was eventually out of hand, but was also closer than the score showed too. We are a much better team than we showed last night! Momentum was key and then sustaining it. I’d like to see this game played at IU or on a neutral field. I’m not saying it would be a win, but the out come is likely closer with a better opportunity for an upset. JMO

My issue is... you ran back to back QB sneaks. As a play caller, that's a ***** move. Lol.. like true, true ***** move.

Run regular offense, thats fine, if you score you score.

Sneaking it there is LAME.

Especially when you line up in a kneel down formation.

Oh and Ryan Day has a punchable face.

I actually really like Ryan Day lol

I would have had ZERO problem with them running an actual play and scoring, truly.

The sneak... that's play caller no no.

Rather old news but I thought I would post.

First off, I apologize to all OSU affiliated fans and personnel, except RYAN DAY, for puking in one of the facility parking lots.  Screw him!

Secondly, I really enjoyed the OSU fans, in the parking lots and in the stands.  Really engaging and enjoyable.  Much better than the UCLA and Michigan State Fans. Liked the Shoe much better than the Rose Bowl and Spartan Stadium as well.

Just listened to the radio broadcast (have not watched the Fox broadcast).  It was loud but OSU definitely pumps in sound right up until the snap. (I noticed this in the stadium and Buck mentions this early in the radio broadcast.)  If IU doesn't do this, they need to start.

OSU fans were worried about this game and rightly so.  I felt that IU really didn't play too bad, despite the final score.  Momentum is a very crazy thing.  Just can't fumble in the red zone and then give up a punt return.

Let's roll Purdue and give the committee NO DOUBT.

That's interesting. Artificial sound's illegal in the NFL, iirc the Falcons lost a draft pick or two cuz of it I think it was in the 28-3 season. Since the NCAA is even more toothless than pUKe fans, why not just inflate the crowd noise till there's an actual rule against it.

NCAA leaves it to the refs’ discretion. So basically the NCAA says “hey if you guys wanna tell the stadium and its 100k fans to turn down the PA, have at it!”

I was at the game. The punt team had an awful day. It was basically the main difference and changed the entire game. It's a completely different game had the punt team execute. But they didn't. The noise was 100% being pumped in. And it might have caused some timing issues for the OL. But credit needs to go where credit is due and O$U is a really good football team from top to bottom. Our beloved Hoosiers really had trouble handling that blitz and Will Howard played a great game.

I don't take issue with Coach Day punching in that final score. We cast the first stone on December 1, 2023. Hopefully this is a rivalry in the making. Because I really like our chances to hold our own with Coach Cig calling the shots.

I do think our team is better than the score indicated and would really like a second chance at them. We don't have them on our schedule next year so hopefully we'll see them again either this year in the CFP or next year in the B1G Championship game. There's something special brewing here with these two programs and I'm here for it baby.

Dan Lebetard mentioned that he would have loved to see how the game would have played out if our special teams didn’t mess up.  I believe this as well.

Yep. I remember feeling awful at halftime. Imagine if the punt goes off and it's only 7-7 at hafltime. I think IU loses still but we will never know.

Frustrating to me was that it was simply a missed catch. Ohio State weren’t going to block it.

What's crazy, it could have been Evans' first time he's ever muffed a punt in his entire career. Sometimes poop just happens. Felt awful for him and my stomach dropped when it happened. I knew it was a big mistake for the game but didn't know it was that play where everything changed.
