Good game. Not unexpected. But, lord, I hope and pray, that Cig remembers that Ryan Day took that touchdown while we were conceding a kneel down and remembers it for the day our talent catches up to our coaching. “Run it up Herman, leave no doubt.” Man I hope this comes to pass.

Sure made the post game handshake more interesting, but would love for Cig to get a chance to pay that one back in the future. Hope things can last long enough for both coaches to create that opportunity

I agree....Ryan did the right thing, we should have kicked away and used our timeouts. We need to run the score up on Purdue as much as possible, I realize this is the bucket game and anything can happen, but if we have the chance we need to win by a large margin!

False. Day’s RB did the classy thing and went down at the 2-yard line to ice the game. Game over. Well played game against two good teams. Day called for them to run the score instead of taking a knee. That’s on him. And it was bad form. No ifs ands buts about it. Cig don’t call timeout. He had two. He could have. He was conceding. To score that touchdown, that’s something a competitive college coach hoping to change the culture does NOT forget about. I hope he doesn’t. P

FWIW

Danny Kanell @dannykanell

Indiana held Ohio State to 316 Total Yards of offense. That is the second lowest output of the season for the Buckeyes. Two plays were the difference of the game. Fumbled punt. Punt return TD. Indiana more than proved they belonged today.

That bad call on movement on the OL in the 2nd quarter was a momentum killer.  Then Rourke got sacked and changed everything in the 1st half.

But IU could not protect Rourke.  And our defensive backs out wide started to give up space to OSU's wide receivers.   If IU cannot get to the opposing QB, then the pass defense needs something else.  Talent?  Speed?  Something.

The play calling was up and down too.  For instance, 2nd and 8 and we don't get a first down because we beat ourselves.

This team is special.  The beat down was somewhat due to OSU hanging on to our players and not getting called.  That stuff happens on the road.  Doesn't mean that they curb-stomped IU.

And it does not mean that IU should get hammered for playing against $$$$ and the media and a really talented team on the road in the B1G.

CBS has a 50% chance to make it if they lose by more than 20 need a lot to go right the rest of the day. Also probably shouldn’t have said they suck and they probably take a knee there

F that. They suck.  Watch.  We get bounced out of the playoffs.  They lose the Big championship game.  And the team that replaced us, knocks them out in the first round.  And Ryan Day just has a punchable face.

Cig would have done the same, so I cannot fault Day. Cig made his decision and paid the price.

The issue I have is victory formation.   The D line wasn’t going full out so you sneak it in.  Low class. Thats how players get hurt.   I have no issue if they wanted to score and lined up mono y mono.  It’s football and you play until the end.

Won’t be shakier than 2-loss ND with both losses to G5 teams, being a de facto G5 team itself. Don’t care where it comes, 2-loss ND will not make it in, especially over a 1-loss B1G team. Boise should be the one that doesn’t want that scenario to play out imo.

Disagree with that. IMO this is about TV and the ongoing realignment. They’ll think hard about letting the SEC and B1G look like they dominate everything unless it’s obvious. In the scenario where ND loses a close one to Army who gets in and beats up on USC. They’ll by far have the best win vs IU especially if AM gets in or finishes with only 3 losses. They’re also a bigger tv draw. And they allow the committee to not give the B1G 4 teams. They love the perception of being fair while acquiescing to the SEC. Look at what happened to FSU last year and they’re a big name.

I’m not saying IU wouldn’t get in over ND in that scenario but I would be nervous. Similarly with Boise. They played the #1 team to the wire. We just got stomped by the #2. 2 loss power teams and one loss Cinderella are our competition now. Like to see them all go down.

ESPN runs the thing and they are with the SEC. They’ll take small opportunities to sleight their competition...which is basically the big ten at this point. Worries me for IU a little if things don’t shake out right. Ole miss going down today was huge though. Likely enough.

So after we tried an onside kick  Ryan is supposed to take a knee, after we also gave up a 50 yard run, because we cried “uncle”? I don’t mind him getting that last TD. He was on a mission to make a win against  the 5th ranked team look as dominating as possible.

As far as the RB sliding at the 2. He did it so they could run clock not as a classy gesture.

Not from victory formation.  That’s the problem.

Gotta say, I think the SEC thing is overblown unless it’s a direct B1G vs. SEC scenario. They can tip the scales to help an SEC team, but I don’t think they’d for one second consider bending the knee to Notre Dame. Playoffs will draw regardless, they have no reason to give the domers any charity. Either two losses to G5 teams (one being horrible) is a non-starter or this whole thing is a farce.

It doesn’t hurt having Warde Manuel as the CFP chair either. Goofy as hell that we have sitting ADs making these decisions, but it may help us here.

We were a step slow from a sack several times.  Kind of the difference between 5 and 3 stars.

For whatever reason we had a heck of a time picking up the blitz.  Looked like our players went to the wrong place several times.

LOL.  That is 1000% not true.

It is true.
He slid because he wanted to run clock and not give us the ball back immediately. No way a dude slides at the end of a 50 yard run, with roughly 2 minutes left, for any other reason.

No doubt Day, Howard and virtually all of O$U are classless D-bags. That's not new or unexpected. However, Cig talked the talk, gotta back it up or shut up. IU got dominated, so crying about them running it up is weak, even if true.

Only good news is they will choke when it matters. IU needs to destroy Purdoo and not get bent over like this again whoever they play after that.

I agree,

The BT wants 4 teams in the playoff every bit as the SEC wants 4. I can’t see Manuel quietly rolling over but we will see.

I know one thing and that is that I will read about the next playoff rankings, rather than watch the show, as I don’t want to to once again hear Joey Galloway go off over and over about our schedule.

Yep.

Kamara was pretty much invisible the entire game.

We also didn’t tackle particularly well. Again, difference in talent. Their backs would either spin out of tackles or run through them. We had guys dead to their rights and couldn’t get them on the ground

This is the thing:  if the roles were reversed and Cignetti had done that, it's still a **** move.

And Day's explanation that the running back went down at the two to run clock and not put his defense out there again is incredibly lame because scoring there from victory formation put his defense back on the field.

Poor tackling, couldn’t protect Rourke, OSU receivers had separation all day, dropped passes, special teams miscues etc etc.

Running game looked pretty good.

It was a bummer to wake up and see the final score. My second thought was wondering what d*** moves Day & Co made during and after the game because it's just a given. And third was that if I'm Purdoo I'm extra not looking forward to playing a pissed off CCC next week.
