Class of '66 Old Fart

(2027) - Jason Gardner Jr.

Recommended Posts

Now this is playing team basketball when 2 players both break the previous season assist record.  Zachary's been on campus at least once and maybe the next coach will have more interest in him.  He's listed as 5'10" which doesn't automatically disqualify him from high major bball but it is a hurdle nonetheless.

247 reports Coach Adams is in this morning to see Gardner.   As a side note, coaches can't contact sophomores directly but can contact his high school coaches and his parents and watch him in a workout.   Also, we have reaffirmed the offer that was extended by the previous administration.

We're 1 of 14 schools that have been in contact Gardner since it became "open season".

Imagine for a bunch of reasons this is priority 1, or really close to it, for ‘27. But you just KNOW what’s gonna happen: IU’s gonna land Gardner who proceeds to have a really good FR year and heads to the draft. Meanwhile, Purdue signs Zachary away from a bunch of MM’s and the kid spends 4 years sticking 3’s in our eye.

Alright grumpy Gus. Here's another take;

Gardner thinks he's a possible one and done, and elects to be one close to home so that friends and family can see him play in his one year of college ball before his dreams become a one way NBA ticket to Sacramento or Portland. And then, if he's merely a late first/early second rounder? Another year in college at $2 million is all of the sudden a better option.

That would be a great result. And if Gardner’s good enough to go after a year, that’s really good as well. I’m more whining about the inevitable Painter thing where Zachary chooses them from a final 4 of PU, Toledo, some directional Michigan school and maybe DePaul and then shoots 45% from 3 every year and he and Luke Ertel are just a straight pain in the a$$ together for 3 years. And that is complementing both of them.
