Ante Brzovic all day, every day

He would have to win his lawsuit in order to get another year of eligibility.....and I would say his case really isn't that strong.  He's waiver was already denied by the NCAA and he's played four years of NCAA ball -- the first at a DII level.

Eddie Lampkin was a player IU inquired about that has a better chance of getting an extra year.  His case is basically the same as Leal's.

Torvik which isn’t fully updated has us #38. Feels about right to me. Goode will bump us a bit. Tons of question marks heading into next season with a tough schedule to boot. Will be incredibly low on fanfare during the off-season. However, like Cig, if DeVries can win excitement will follow.

I'm going to preface what I'm going to say with this. Leal(or anyone else) should get a sixth year unless they were injured unless they played 10 or less games.
I watched almost every game this past season. IMO, regardless what Leal and Goode said on Social Media or Senior Night speeches, they were the only ones who tried and played hard almost every game. At the very least a lot more than the rest of the team.

Harris will also bump IU up.  For some reason he isn’t listed on the roster or in the available transfer pool.

FWIW, if you add Goode and Leal it moves IU into the 20s and that’s without adding Harris.

EDIT:  adding only Goode moves IU to 28.  Adding Goode and Leal moves IU to 24.  I would guess adding those two plus Harris puts IU around 20

Being a fringe top-25 team to possibly being a bubble team seems like the most likely range of outcomes for this team.

Obviously crazy things can happen to go more positive or negative but the Torvik rankings align with my own expectations heading into the season.

Yep 20-40 is probably where the range of expectations should be. Better or the top end would obviously be great. Bottom end or worse could be painful. We will see.

Oh, I wouldn't refer to it as 'great' if we are ranked near 20 at year's end.  I would be pleasantly surprised....pleased, yes. It is CDD's first year here.  And the team as a team has a long way to go.  It will take some getting over some bumps (not humps)...and taking some lumps.

Great would be in the Sweet 16 with a good showing there.  Great would include the team playing their hearts out routinely.  Great would be CDD showing his mettle and BB IQ.  Great would be the guards playing like they belonged in the competition for the top of the B1G.

Great would-be recruiting improvements for 2026 being experienced during the basketball season. ..and really building something towards another banner.

(Great would be a serious upgrade in referees and fairly calling games consistently home and away and in the first half and second half.  But I dream.  Never mind.)

I understand why some would say it is great.  Things are relative.

To me, great is competing with the best routinely, and bringing it all home once in a while.

I am not going to accept all of the hype.  But I am intrigued.  And I will cheer the team.

My expectations are a little lower than others on this site.  I hate to admit that.  I usually am a positive...cup is half-full of BS..kind of guy.  I just do not think that we will get that rabbit on the first try this season.

If you add just Leal they go from 38 to 28.  Kinda shows the uselessness of such rankings.Though if Leal gets his extra, extra year he should definitely take a copy of the before and after Torvik ranking into his NIL discussions.

A good post. I just think considering the context of Indiana not finishing in the top 25 of Kenpom since 2016 that finishing 25th or better would be great. Michigan finished 21st as an example from last year. It was a great season for them after a rough patch.  2023-30th (with TJD!) and 2020-34th are the best Indiana efforts in a decade.
