Yes, Conerway has only 1 year. He was JUCO, I believe.

We are gonna be a fairly old team and back in the portal pretty heavy next year.

That's fine, is what it is until high school recruiting picks up and that takes a little bit of time.  A few portal guys with multiple years of eligibility will help balance things out, and I'm sure we'll get some of those here in the next few weeks...

Yes. If IU lands Conerway, I hope he's the last with just 1 year left. I think we'll add 4 more portal (including him) and a couple of freshmen. Just a guess, though.

I imagine Wilkerson, Devries, and Bailey are locked in as projected starters. Let's assume the starting PG is in the Conerway/Enright mold (defensive minded distributor).

What are you looking for to round out that lineup?

The first three responses to my question were all different, which makes this a fun discussion topic. It depends on how you see Devries and Bailey.

I go back and forth between a long athletic wing, or a rebounder-screener big. Really, I want both of those guys on the roster to give coach flexibility depending on matchups.

Tbf I want both? It's nice to have options. I think the goal is to have 8 really good players that play most of the mins. Bailey is probably too small as a full time center so we still need one of those

I thought I read earlier that Conerway would likely be the first decision maker but glad to be pleasantly surprised it was Lamar. Hopefully this helps Conerway make his decision

Seems as though we’re in a really great spot, just gotta wait

Not sure I can change your perception but as someone that has done media/marketing for some of the biggest brands in the world and my wife does too I can say with 100% confidence that Duke is getting an amazing ROI.

coca-cola, AB-InBev, McDonalds etc are massive brands that are world famous but they continue to dump money into media/marketing to ensure they stay there and also to invest in their future, fueling a pipeline of love and fandom from younger audiences that will payout for the rest of their lives. $4.8m is a drop of piss to these brands and a brand like Duke. The amount of media coverage alone via Cooper Flagg is worth 10s of millions and his presence ensures a whole new generation of fans. My 8 year old son asked me for a Cooper Flagg jersey for Easter. I’m not getting it and going to force him to be a Hoosier fan but there are kids everywhere that are becoming Duke fans because of him and the lifetime value of a fan is immeasurable. Think about every dollar you have spent related to IU over your lifetime and then multiply that by every new fan Flagg brought to Duke this year.
just because you are a big brand doesn’t mean you will stay one, you need RTBs and there is no bigger one this year than Flagg.

If I had a dollar for every jersey my kid wanted for a player/team he doesn't even care about today, I'd be able to retire.  :)

Per Sam Kaiser at 247 IU has reached out to Mizzou 7 footer Peyton Marshall. Former top 50 recruit. Didn’t play a ton last year and his motor runs hot and cold, but he’s a big kid with very good hands and feet and 3 years of eligibility.
