At this point I could see Woody so damn pathetic enough to talk a player into being “injured” and keep him out of games just to be able to use that as an excuse for not winning…

…..sounds ridiculous, but I’ve reached the point of not putting it past this man to do such a thing just to make himself look better.

That’s funny, I just said the same thing!  They have been doing that for a while.

Wonder if we're going to learn of an arrest soon... that's where my mind immediately goes if there's "news" at 2am

Yea.  If so I’m surprised news isn’t out yet.  I’m leaning injury.

Whatever it is, I don’t want it to be a possible excuse for the season being bad.

If it is an injury then we won't hear about it till Saturday most likely. It's finals week and everything is super quiet around here with a lot of people going home and off work.

He also said that many of our new players came from schools that play mostly zone defense, which is why we were having trouble on D., which is not true. Also said we played good defense against Nebraska. So Delusional

He’s not only considers himself the King of Indiana, but he’s the King of Excuses!

It’s almost like our not a college basketball head coach has also not watched any college basketball film.

We all know the answer to that, he’s too lazy to put any work in at all

What a freaking moron. Does he even watch his team play? Arrogance and incompetence make a pretty lethal combination in a P4 coach.

I was thinking the same thing but almost didn’t want to put it into the ether lol so thanks for falling on that sword. It’s hard just on talent alone to imagine us doing worse than .500 in the B1G, but I have a real hard time envisioning many road wins. My personal guess would be 7 to 10 wins in the B1G, make the BTT, not the NCAA.

Well, he's told us repeatedly that winning on the road in the B1G is hard... and hard things are difficult when you're clueless.

That's a real issue if the moneybags bankrolling Woody get peed off and significantly reduce their contributions or stop altogether.  Should that happen, we better hope there's other donors who will step up to the plate because Woody is gone.

There have to be deep-pocket donors who care about results more than nepotism, right? Hopefully... or we're screwed for all of eternity.

I was doing some thinking about the rest of the year last night.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt like this season really might go completely off the rails.

Thought my bias may be clouding my ideas, so I looked at the NET Rankings and Woody's winning percentage vs. each Quad.

My back of the napkin math: as it stands today - we have 13 Q1 games, 3 Q2 games, 4 Q3 games left.

As it stands today there are 6 games that could be Q1/Q2 (Michigan, Purdue, PSU, OSU) or Q2/Q3 (Rutgers, at Washington).

Woody has a 31% winning pct vs Q1, 64% vs Q2, and 89% vs Q3.

That would be good for 10 more wins. That'd put us at 18-13 overall.

I have a hard time seeing us finishing better than 21-10 absolute best case. 18-13 or worse more likely IMO.

Torvik Teamcast has same 18-13 projection and us missing the tournament as the 4th team out (without the B1G tourney sim).

Needed to win 2 games in the B1G tourney to be one of the last 4 in.

To be fair Nebraska only scored 85, Woodson is probably use to his NBA teams giving up more than that.

Yeah, that would be my guess as well.  Woody has used his 'new guys getting to know each other' excuse, get ready for the injury excuse coming in hot.

Well, that's his go to excuse... I think he's used it all four years...

Yeah you're right, poor phrasing on my part. Just find his mentality sooo frustrating and not logical, lol.

Wonder what he's getting at... suppose we'll find out soon enough

Mgbako make another run for the border?

The king is surrounded by people who inflate his massive ego. Worst coach we ever had but in his mind he is great.

Cook and Simon are our two billionaire mega donors.  We can’t afford to lose either of them, especially Cook.  I don’t see anyone who could step in, Cuban has never showed interest in being a big donor.
I don’t think they will stop donating fwiw, especially Cook, they run the Hoosiers Connect collective.

As long as those two bankroll the king he won't be going anywhere.

The when-it-rains-it-pours tweet ...

Crazy thought -- but any chance that just refers to the death of Richard Van Arsdale?

That, just when you thought it couldn't get any worse -- an IU legend passes?

Had to say "Richard" because it wouldn't let me type D ick (well -- as one word). Seems kinda silly ...

The king isn't going anywhere unless the Scott's and cooks are on board. They own the bbal program now. Like happy said the best players money can buy just the worst coach money can buy. The king knows he is likely good. More money coming to color his facial hair

Even though the king is incredibly arrogant what's the deal with coloring his facial hair. Seems like something an insecure guy would do. Don't know anybody who does that. Just the king.
